the floods? Damn that's some high water on GEM$NBC. I'm seeing water close to roof tops. Guess your Governor has stopped praying for rain!

1. Putting a plastic tarp on the roof in a little bit..
Normal rainfall isn't a problem, torrential downpours for days on end are..

I should have some pics in a while, I'm breaking out my underwater camera once I get the battery charged, there is a tiny creek on the back of our property that's starting to look like the big muddy.. :)

2. This is odd - I had no idea that this was happening until I read it here

on DU. I was just commenting to my husband this morning that here it is the last day of summer and no hurricanes have landed on the East coast and none are in sight. I was wondering where all the heat energy was going. Maybe this is what happened instead.

On edit: Nothing on the MSNBC page, a half assed local story on the CNN page. By half assed, I mean meaningless to anyone who doesn't live in Atlanta.

3. Wednesday night got home very late
turned onto my street, and my garbage can was sitting in the middle of it -- it had been washed halfway down the street by all the water.

A freeway near me was closed this morning due to a mud slide (http://www.ajc.com/news/gwinnett/?cxntlid=linkr) .

And there's a little creek across the street from my office that now looks more like a river :scared:

5. Fortunately, where I live northwest of Atlanta,
it's pretty high ground. I live in Woodstock and work in Marietta, next door to Atlanta. This morning, it was smooth sailing on my drive to work. There are some people here who couldn't get in because of flooding. They live in Paulding County, which got some extensive flooding.

6. No major damage here in Middle Georgia--yet.
Some residents in Crawford County have lost water due to a busted water main, but, other than that, I'd heard of no major disruptions caused by the rain in this area. Atlanta is faring worse, it seems.
