20. Well, he can't do it on his own can he? PO has to have
the country behind it and the majority in Congress.

So much impatience.

4. He does have a point.
The healthcare debate has been framed. It ended when Obama got up in front of the congress and gave his speech.

We need to get something done now.

12. No, but what in hell would the media discuss until then.
And what would you like Obama to talk about or do instead of what he's doing? I'd like to see him kick Tom DeLay's ass on Dancing with the Stars.

21. Our dysfunctional health care system is a major contributor to our economic woes, but
you can't expect Matthews to connect A to B he gets paid not to connect the dots as it goes against his master's corporate supremacist interests.

8. the privileged pundits
have a hard enough time pretending to understand the economy, they are not going to get that there is an obvious link between health care and the economy. They also don't get that only a small portion of people watch cable news...they get pissed when there isn't something "new" for them to gossip about.

10. He's probably right
I have little doubt that Chris Matthews doesn't know or has had contact with a single soul who is truly invested or interested in health care reform.

Maybe he should think about doing some reporting, as he claims he is a "journalist," or he could invite some people on who are uninsured to address how interested or not interested they are in reform.

But from where he stands, living inside the beltway, attending black tie fundraisers and sunning himself among the monied class at his beach house, I believe him when he says, "no one wants to hear about healthcare."

26. Nobody I know does either
I have some friends who are mildly curious about healthcare reform, but they're much more worried about keeping their jobs and their bleeding 401Ks.

A doctor's appointment isn't worth shit if you can't put food on the table.

Obama and company fucked up on this issue. They should have been forceful in creating new regulations for the financial industry, especially in the area of personal credit, BEFORE checking it off the list and jumping to the next big ticket item. They didn't. They placed some scotch tape over a gaping hole and walked away. You do NOT build political capital by being elected. You build political capital by getting people to trust your leadership, and you get them to trust your leadership by enacting popular reforms. THEN you tackle the more controversial ones.

To most people Healthcare is a secondary concern to the economy and the stimulus bill was soild to prevent us from reaching 10% unemployment, we will reach that this month.

I'm paying $500 a month for Cobra right now because I'm unemployed. I'm more worried about finding a job before unemployment runs out than I am about getting sick. Any plan they propose won't go into effect till 3-4 years from now so no job I'm fucked whether healthcare passes or not.

17. here's how it works. if obama talks about healthcare, then no one wants to hear about healthcare...
because no one is dealing with it right?? maybe chris matthews isn't dealing with it... but many people are. but i digress... if obama wasn't talking about healthcare, then the meme would be why isn't he talkinga bout healthcare.... see how that works. no matter what he says, it's not what people want to hear or if he starts talking about something else it is how come he is backing off of healthcare.... yadda yadda yadda.
