So, raising up deficits on military spending and on fighting an illegal war is okay.... |
|
...but spending money on our citizens back home is bad?

4. Afghanistan is a vaguely legal war ... the problem is we are occupiers without a clear goal. |
|
The Afghans have been dealing with occupiers for centuries in much the same way the are dealing with us now.
If you look at the extra scenes cut from "We Were Soldiers Once and Young" there is a debriefing where Hal Moore says "We cannot kick their ass all the way home. They are home" And, this war is now the same as that.
No front, no goal, and every soldier a target.

6. off topic, but i'm all for it. |

we owe the Iraqi people reparations, for god's sakes. spending several hundred million for their health coverage is the absolute minimum we can do, in order to even start to atone.

8. I don't disagree. In fact, I find it priceless that this is what we |
|
recommend. I just find it ironic that we are going out of our way to set up SP in the middle east, yet hold our own citizens hostage to the for-profits.

3. actually, it's perfectly fine to spend trillions on our citizens back home - as long |

as they are financial elites.
case in point - trillions (4T+ and counting) to banksters; still unexpired Bush's obscene taxcuts to the rich, etc.

5. They really do think like that. That is also the Corporations' ideal form of government. |
|
They want our government to open and secure markets for them but god forbid they raise taxes to provide for us citizens.
