Did anyone hear that the Fundie gawd
called off the rapture because of the rantings of Southern racists. He decided to let them stay on earth and cleanse themselves from their racist thoughts.
Pat Robertson hasn't said it yet, but word is that all that flooding in the South was to provide the cleansing water, Governor Purdue says it's not his fault - he was just praying for rain.

Now this is irrational to atheists like me, but since this is Fundie thinking par excellence, who knows.

1. Well Gee, since you mentioned it, it's irrational to me as well, and I believe in God
And I'd be willing to wager that it sounds irrational to a lot pf people who are not atheists. We're not all Christian fundies. We're not even all Christians, and atheists don't have a lock on what is rational.

4. Until you take back your religion from the fundies....
we DO have a lock on what is rational. It is not rational for you to sit idly by why wing-nuts hijack your religion.

5. As I said, we are not all Christians
I have the same responsibility to take back Christianity from the fundies than YOU do--some or none.

8. My bad. I take back some of what I said.
You are right, you, as a non-xtian, have no responsibility to do so. But it is NOT rational, regardless of your religion, to believe in something for which there is no proof. Before you get all angry on me, I am not saying that there is no god, just that it defies logical reason to believe in something that one cannot prove exists.

11. I see...
I see. You want progressive Christians to force their religious views down the throats of conservatives Christians. Odd that...

13. Nah, you dont see anything, appearently.
I think you understand the point. No one is saying they should silence the fundies, just take back the church that has been hijacked.

16. We are not "sitting idly by",
we're doing a lot to try to take things back. You don't hear about it 'cause it ain't interesting to the media, they're only interested in the loudmouth screamer fundies.

And no, you do NOT have a "lock" on everything rational. Your preening today, on this and other threads, about how much more superior atheists are to everyone else is not only wearing quite thin, but is just as arrogant and obnoxious as the fundie theocrats who think THEY have all the answers and a "lock" on everything. And I seem to recall that atheists were responsible for millions of deaths in the Soviet Union and elsewhere behind the Iron Curtain. While there are plenty of non-believers who are, frankly, more moral and rational than some of those who claim to be Christians, you don't have a lock on things, either. And rationality isn't always the most important thing.

24. I disagree
but I look forward to being proven wrong. If I am wrong, then religion will improve itself and I will be marginalized, and I am ok with that. Otherwise, my view will be proven right and religion will blow away in the wind, and I am ok with that too.
