When histories are written 100 yrs from now... |
|
they will indicate that the demise of the American Empire was brought about by the bribing of government officials by corporate interests(lobbyist).
Now, of course, there will be many other contributing reasons such as its lust for war and spending, which brought about the unending debt of the government and its people, but the bribe taking was the catalyst for it all.
Just my pea-brained opinion.:silly:

Little did I know it then, but 1969 was the zenith of American accomplishment. That was the year when LBJ handed over the last multi-year budget surplus (Clinton only got to surplus at the very end of his tenure) to Nixon, who promptly pissed it away in VietNam. That was the year of the moon landing, which got a "been there, done that" lack of follow-up from subsequent administrations. Everything vile that Bush did had its origin with Nixon, including Cheney and Rumsfeld.
When I think back on how different the last 40 years could have been -- well, I quit thinking about it, so I won't get too depressed.

3. I believe you have good, sound, logical reason to believe that. |

To deny the adverse dynamics created by legalized bribery on elected officials is to deny gravity.
When money becomes King, what else can "We the People" be but subjects?
I'm convinced that virtually all short sighted, illogical, narrow minded policies and law passed by the government benefiting the few while screwing over the many and the nation in general are directly related to this institutionalized absurdity.

5. Most likely, but I'm afraid it depends on who actually writes the history books |

If the corporate lackeys have their way their grandchildren will be the ones preserving the family "history."

Will they have a lingering fondness for the vanished human species that for so long nurtured them?
