10-Year-Old Tries To Make Wand Out Of Stick, Gasoline, Bug Spray


HUDSON, Fla. -- Authorities said a 10-year-old Pasco County boy was seriously burned when he and two friends tried to make a magic wand out of a stick, gasoline and bug spray.

The sheriff's office reports that the three boys were playing "wizards" Saturday when they began casting make-believe spells on a chicken. While trying to make the wand, one of the boys kicked over a small bucket of gasoline. Another boy then lit a match, and a spark hit the spilled gasoline. The flames caught the boy's leg on fire.

The boy's mother heard him screaming, but he managed to put the fire out by rolling around on the ground.

See, Magic is evil I tell you! We need to ban it, that kid drove up my health care costs by playing in an unapproved way :)

You want to film a flame effect - take the wand, dip the end of it in the gasoline. Light the end of the wand. Spray along the length of the wand with the spray and get a gout of flame from the flame at the wand tip. A little editing, and you have someone wave a wand and then a blast of fire is emitted by it.

With the 'stick, gasoline and spray can' was there also a video camera on the scene?
