True story - When I was a kid, I had a bike accident on the way to school. Mom got pissed because she got called from work but I did not seem to be seriously hurt so she took me to school. My arm ached a lot and I whined about it for weeks. Finally Mom got tired of hearing me complain and took me to the doctor. I guess we did not have insurance because she told me if there was nothing wrong with my arm I'd have to pay for the visit out of my allowance. At a quarter a week, it would have taken forever to pay.

The doctor checked my arm, took X-rays, and then lectured my Mom - I had a non-displaced fracture that was starting to move out of place. According to the doctor, as a RN Mom should have known that there was something wrong - just because I could move my fingers did NOT mean it was not broken.

I was a smug little shit for a while after that! :evilgrin:

passes, because the corporations have pulled out ALL the stops going after congress, putting ads on teevee in ADDITION to having control of all the news cycles. They are spending $150 MILLION A DAY just on LOBBYING, and that doesn't count all the ads, all the idiot neocons/church organizations they're paying to go out and hold up signs and make calls to talk shows, newspapers, and most of all congress.

I see it everywhere. The focus has been taken off the town hall screamers and is now on individuals who have been destroyed by our health care system. Obama's persistence along with a resurgence of progressive voices are paying off and we are going to get a descent bill. It will be far from perfect and it won't have everything we want but it will be a foot in a door that had been bolted and welded shut for decades.
