Good news keeps flowing in
1. Mayo Clinic endorses the Public Option

2. Obama's poll numbers tick upwards, People say they will blame Repugs if there is no reform.

3. Reid says he WILL NOT HESITATE to use reconciliation.

4. Jay says Public Option is picking up steam in Finance Committee.

5. Teddy's seat is about to be filled to put us back at 60. (Please Please Please make it Mike! That would be such sweet justice!)

6. Comedians put out an absolutely hilarious ad attacking the Insurance Companies (people sooo underestimate the power of comedy to persuade).

7. Our conservative enemies are totally off script: O'Reilly supports Public Option and Beck says he would have voted for Hillary and thinks McCain would have been worse than Obama (WTF?) While Roy Blunt tells bald face racist jokes.

We have the momentum now, and it's time to stop infighting and whining and take it on home baby.

22. "If my kid falls off his bike and breaks his leg"
"If my kid falls off his bike and breaks his leg, he should have to pay that money out of pocket, out of his allowance" Faison
"How else is he going to learn not to fall off that bike" Wilde

True story - When I was a kid, I had a bike accident on the way to school. Mom got pissed because she got called from work but I did not seem to be seriously hurt so she took me to school. My arm ached a lot and I whined about it for weeks. Finally Mom got tired of hearing me complain and took me to the doctor. I guess we did not have insurance because she told me if there was nothing wrong with my arm I'd have to pay for the visit out of my allowance. At a quarter a week, it would have taken forever to pay.

The doctor checked my arm, took X-rays, and then lectured my Mom - I had a non-displaced fracture that was starting to move out of place. According to the doctor, as a RN Mom should have known that there was something wrong - just because I could move my fingers did NOT mean it was not broken.

I was a smug little shit for a while after that!

I remember standing at the admissions desk, the nurse gets on the phone and says "They don't have insurance. Will you still take them." I thought my Mom was going to leap over the counter and grab the nurse by the neck.

12. I wish that Robert Byrd would retire on his own..and soon
A man like him, has to know how important that one vote is, and it has to bother him that he's too sick to even attend most days.

He's done his job, and then some.. He shouldn't have to die in office.

We need a mandatory retirement age in government/congress.. 80 would be my 2nd choice.

1st choice would be max of 20 years service, and max of 2 terms in either chamber.

make house seats 4 years & leave senate at 6

NO PENSION or benefits until you serve 20 CONSECUTIVE years..(2 house & 2 senate)

any break in "service" negates the pension..

but then I am just a meanie.:P

58. actually , from a fiscal standpoint, it would be a great idea
2 year terms are very costly, and it means they never really legislate, since they are always planning their re-election, and raising money every second of every day.

passes, because the corporations have pulled out ALL the stops going after congress, putting ads on teevee in ADDITION to having control of all the news cycles. They are spending $150 MILLION A DAY just on LOBBYING, and that doesn't count all the ads, all the idiot neocons/church organizations they're paying to go out and hold up signs and make calls to talk shows, newspapers, and most of all congress.

This health care situation is a WAR against the little guy by the corporations and the republican party ( which includes the blue dogs who are republicans that infiltrated the Dem party with the help of RAHM EMMANUEL ) .

If we get any "health care" bill at all, it will be an insurance & pharmaceutical company "bail out" for the next 50 years, and the middle and lower classes will be absolutely SCREWED.

17. The mood is changing.
I see it everywhere. The focus has been taken off the town hall screamers and is now on individuals who have been destroyed by our health care system. Obama's persistence along with a resurgence of progressive voices are paying off and we are going to get a descent bill. It will be far from perfect and it won't have everything we want but it will be a foot in a door that had been bolted and welded shut for decades.

19. Local news had a list of possible temps for Senate in MA tonight
one was sooooo intriguing: Prof Charles Ogletree. From his http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charles_Ogletree">wikipedia entry:

Charles J. Ogletree (born December 31, 1952 in Merced, California) is Jesse Climenko Professor at Harvard Law School, the founder of the school's Charles Hamilton Houston Institute for Race and Justice, and the author of numerous books on legal topics.

Ogletree was born to farm workers in central California. He earned his B.A. (1974, with distinction) and M.A. (1975) both in political science from Stanford University and his J.D. from Harvard Law School in 1978.

I would pay good, good money to hear Prof Ogletree deliver a speech on health care on the floor of the US Senate.

Harvard page on Prof Ogletree: http://www.law.harvard.edu/faculty/directory/index.html?id=49

Teddy's former chief of staff is also a potential temp Senator. He would be a good choice for someone to continue the office work that is so threatened by leaving the seat vacant.

And if we do not get it you might as well. Perhaps it will knock the last bit of hope out of me and I will stand in your corner.

But I trust him ..and I do not always agree with him either. He has pissed me off a couple times. I do not like broken campaign promises.

You will get a strong public option. I have watched this since the beginning. The House will not pass a bill without it. The progressive and other caucuses have told him out right they will revolt without it.

Baucus ... he is just a pesky bug. Bill Maher tore his bill to shreds on his daily show. There is already 500+ amendments.

Its going to happen.
