Whoa! Wouldn't even sign it to protect his own son?

George H.W. Bush Was Invited To Sign Letter Condemning Probe Of Bush-Era Torture, But Declined

A number of folks have pointed out that the signature of George H.W. Bush — who headed the CIA in the mid-1970s — was conspicuously absent from that letter that seven former CIA chiefs sent to Obama asking him to reverse the decision to probe some CIA torture that took place on his son’s watch.

Well, it turns out that Bush was invited to sign the letter, but declined, according to his chief of staff, Jean Becker. “He had been invited to sign it,” Becker confirmed to me.

But she added that we shouldn’t read too much into Bush Sr.’s decision. “He never signs group letters,” she claimed. “It’s a black and white rule he’s had since leaving office. He doesn’t sign these letters. He never has.”

Becker insisted that Bush Sr. agrees with everything in the letter: “He totally agrees with everything that was said.”

Hmmm…

1. Poppy Bush prefers his CIA connections be kept less public -
he likes to act like his links to it was all one big surprise to him.

3. Wants to avoid double trouble? Wants history to forget all about him,
and to hell with his son?
