Not sure if this was posted here yet but in all this heated debate over health care reform it's nice to see that Americans aren't blaming us Dems for it.

September 22, 2009

GOP to Blame if Health Care Bill Doesn't Pass
The new NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll finds that if health care reform is not passed this year, 37% will blame congressional Republicans, 16% will blame congressional Democrats and 10% will blame President Obama.

2. What a meaningless poll!
Passing a healthcare bill at all costs regardless of what is in it would be gargantuan tragedy for Americans.

The fact is that I will blame Democrats if a bill is rammed through that does not have a workable public option at the very least. I would also add that I hope Progressive Democratic members of Congress kill a bill if it does nothing but compel millions of people into the arms of evil healthcare insurers. That will fix NOTHING!

3. This poll is a little premature.
We have a long road to go before talking about defeat is more than just rhetoric.

4. I don't think so. It asked "if" it fails.
You have Republican leaders openly stating that they want HCR, and Obama, to fail. It's entered the rhetoric, like it or not.

5. That is good news!
When all the wailing, gnashing of teeth, etc, took place over the summer, the American public adroitly saw it for what it was, repubs and their rabid, racist right-wing supporters lying to them.

6. Those are difficult numbers to interpret.
Does it mean they know they were lied to? Does it mean they think the Pukes were telling the truth -- successfully?

I don't know what it means.

7. They are and it's not that great of a poll, admittedly.
They asked respondents about "Obama's" plan when Obama doesn't have one, it's in Congress. But it does say that only 21% of respondents approve of the GOP's handling of health care reform.

That's why the phrase "Obama-care" by right wingers drives me crazy!

8. Count me as one who will blame the Dems!
We have huge majorities in Congress, including ten more Dems than are needed to pass a bill through reconciliation.
