I'm out of the loop (re: Gov. Paterson) |
|
I heard a news snippet the other day that Obama would not support NY Governor Paterson in a re-election bid. They said that Obama would urge Paterson to drop out of the race.
Could anyone give me an update on this? Why would Obama be doing this? What is wrong with Paterson? I haven't heard anything.

1. His job approval rating is abysmal and there are a couple of hard to hold seats |
|
Obama administration fears Paterson could be a huge drag on a ticket that could already be in trouble. Paterson appointed Kirsten Gillibrand to Hillary Clinton's senate seat. She was a Democrat in a conservative district and holding the seat is a challenge. Any drag on the ticket is seen as a problem right now. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2009/09/19/obama-paterson-should-qui_n_292526.html

2. I'm pretty out of the loop, too - |

and that's bad, cause I live in NY!
But the general consensus seems to be that, for whatever reasons, his administration has been ineffectual, and that he hasn't any chance of being re-elected. People want him to step aside, so a more likely Democrat may be elected, and so President Obama won't be associated with a "loser" candidate.

Well aside from being inept, ineffectual and politically tone-deaf, nothing
