Even utility companies cannot take them anymore.
"Citing "irreconcilable differences," PG&E Corp. says it's leaving the U.S. Chamber of Commerce on account of the latter's "extreme position on climate change." That is, the chamber's increasingly extreme - some might say bizarre - opposition to legislation working its way through Congress.
Bizarre, as in a "Scopes monkey trial of the 21st century," which the chamber wants the Environmental Protection Agency to conduct on the science of global warming. "It would be evolution versus creationism," said one of its senior VPs last month. Only this time, the chamber, which represents 3 million U.S. businesses, would be rooting for William Jennings Bryan and the state of Tennessee."
PG&E is one of the largest utility companies in America and serves 15 million people.
