Palin slams Obama's spending
The Standard -- Hong Kong -- http://www.thestandard.com.hk/breaking_news_detail.asp?id=16571&icid=3&d_str=20090924

Former US vice-presidential nominee Sarah Palin said the US government was wasting taxpayers' money and could aggravate poverty, said delegates at her first speech outside North America.

<SNIP>
Her performance, which was closed to the media, divided opinion.

<SNIP>
Although she touched on the threat posed to the United States by terrorism and talked about links with traditional US allies in Asia such as Japan, Australia and South Korea, one Asian delegate complained she devoted too much time to her home state of Alaska.

''It was almost more of a speech promoting investment in Alaska,'' he said, declining to be named.

''As fund managers we want to hear about the United States as a whole, not just about Alaska. And she criticized Obama a lot but offered no solutions.''

Another said he was disappointed that she took only pre-arranged questions.

''It was fairly right-wing populist stuff,' one US delegate said.

Another from the United States said: ''She frightens me because she strikes a chord with a certain segment of the population and I don't like it.''

3. ZZzzzzzz
Uh yeah, hey wake up there Rip van Winkle. That was months ago.

She's a populist with no sense. But that kinda goes with the territory. Populism generally appeals to the dullards and knuckleheads. Look at them in Honduras, salivating over that idiot wannabe el presidente-for-life.

7. Duh! It's pretty funny for a woman who spent a fortune on campaign clothes to talk...
...about somebody else spending too much.

12. I believe it was more than just the clothes
She charged pleasure trips and holidays to the Alaskan taxpayers in which family members accompanied her. She charged the State of Alaska $13,000 for her to attend various relgious events and $21,000 for her children and husband to travel for sightseeing. If I recall, there was also a story about the remodeling of the Governor's Mansion complete with tanning bed for over $51,000 as well as remodeling of her Mayor's office when she became Mayor of Wasilla. She had the state of Alaska buy her a white Chevy Suburban and she charged the State per diem expenses to stay in her home and run the State from there, while the State still paid for the maintenance of her Governor's Mansion (and even remodeled it for her). The town of Wasilla had no debt when she became Mayor but was over $20 million in debt 6 years later. Palin had a sports complex built in the town when it really needed a sewage treatment plant.

I would say that it's no mystery why many here called Palin and her family the "grifters". She hasn't exactly had a great record as a fiscal conservative in her own professional and private life.

8. Palin "slams?"
Sorry, but closed-door "speeches" have no value. You're not going to deny me access to a "public" event then come out with headlines like "Palin Slams Obama's Spending" when I don't have a video with sound, or a transcript from a reliable news source. I seriously doubt Palin can "slam" anything, except perhaps for a door during a tantrum.

If this appearance was closed to the media, then how was this "report" cobbled together?

Fuck you, whoever put this farce together. "Slam" is a pretty heavy verb for someone who has to be coddled and protected...
