If Carter had been a repuke, would rush and the GOP still think he was bad? |
|
Today, Rush called him a hemorroid on society,
He was one of the MOST honest presidents of our time and he honestly tried to be so ethical and the people around him took advantage along with the economy tanking after years of repuke driving it in the ground...
Had he been a repuke, would they think so badly of him?
Honestly the Camp David Accords alone should garner him life long respect

1. Maybe not. On the other hand, they have been known to eat their own |

... when their own refuse to kiss corporatist-Repuke behind.

11. He would have acted totally differently, and we would hate him no matter what he had done. |

2. You're talking about a sociopath in RL. Until this society learns to recognize... |
|
...and shun them, we'll get this stuff. Has nothing to do with Carter.

7. But if he had been a repub.... |
|
Would we find what we didn't like about him and parade that about to show why they are all bad?
Point is - when we don't like a group we tend to demonize them by finding the worst we can about them to discredit them (like some might do with Christians, Muslims, Home schooling, public schooling, police, etc and so on).
That is why I think the rw does what they do with Obama and did with Clinton, and yet I see the same from folks on the left as well.
Human/group nature I am sure, but still too stereotypical for me. It is easier to judge a group by those in it who act how we think they should/would and apply that than to examine each person based on their own merits.
That is not to minimize institutional issues and bringing to light issues within the core and using said things as examples, but we also have to be careful to weigh in the good done by people and their overall motives too (cops mean well but can be corrupt and exempt from things, many Christians do really awesome things for others but some don't and feed the flames of their own stereotypes and show a weakness in core issues, etc).
Hate often blinds us to the good that orgs/groups do because we don't want to give them any credit over fear that they might grow and the bad part expand, and both (or all) sides tend to neglect the good of some things because of the bad.

8. Jimmy Carter and Herbert Hoover |
|
were probably the bet men to ever occupy the White House.
Read Hoover's history. He was a humanitarean without peer, and one of our worst presidents, though I think he gets a bad rap.

10. Murdoch holds the balls of the GOP and the like of Rush very tightly |
|
Jimmy Carter is honest and even about the ME situation. The Murdoch propaganda favoring Israel is relentless and far-reaching. Carter isn't powerful enough to fight it. He only has truth on his side. But he is free.
