Daryl Hannah expected to be tried soon in W.Va. for mountaintop removal protest

RALEIGH COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Actress Daryl Hannah could go to trial as early as November for her role in an environmental protest at a Raleigh County coal mine earlier this summer.

The county's assistant prosecutor said most of the people arrested that day have already pleaded guilty to the charges against them, but not Hannah, who reportedly wants a fight.

State troopers arrested Hannah and several other protesters at a demonstration in front of a Massey mine last June. They said the silo at the mine poses a health risk to students at Marsh Fork Elementary School.

1. Why should someone plead guilty for bringing attention to the

fact that this corporation is destroying the health of nearby school children? Furthermore, why is protesting illegal?
