Nashville anti-abortion activists plan 40 days of prayer at clinics
why don't these people do something constructive for the community?????

~snip~
Vonda Spain wants to shut down a Nashville abortion clinic, and she's looking for divine help to get it done.

For the next five weeks, Spain and other local anti-abortion activists will take part in a prayer vigil, 12 hours a day, outside the Women's Center on Welshwood Drive. About 60 volunteers have signed up to take shifts at the vigil.

"We'll be praying and fasting for 40 days to close that place down," Spain said.

The local vigil is part of "40 Days for Life,'' a national campaign in more than 200 cities. It's one of several to re-energize abortion opponents who realize they no longer have a friend in the White House and that the chances of overturning Roe v. Wade are slim. They have turned their focus to what they can do, like making sure abortion funding is not part of any national health-care bill and holding peaceful protests to keep their message front and center.

The "40 Days for Life'' movement began in 2004, with prayer vigils in Bryan, Texas. Shawn Carney, co-founder of the group, and several friends wanted to do more than just vote for pro-life candidates and write letters to newspapers.

2. Why 40 days of prayer when 40 days of fasting would be much more effective. n/t

4. I wonder if these people have ever seen studies that show the action of Prayer...
(statistically) does absolutly nothing for the outcome pertaining to the subject of the prayer.

It might make them feel better but their actions produce nothing.
Total waste of time.

7. So what happens when God doesn't shut down the clinics?
do they stop and think..."Hmmm...maybe God wants us to mind our own fucking business"?

or do they stupidly figure they haven't prayed hard enough/well enough and go at it with increased fervor in the hopes God will SOMEDAY answer their prayers?

I vote they'll go with stupid.
