Drag queen to sing anthem at SF Giants game |
|
Good on the Giants' front office. History is about to be made in San Francisco. On September 29th, the San Francisco Giants will be getting ready to play ball at the AT&T Park. Before they do though, someone special will come out on the field to sing the National Anthem, and no one knows how to come out and do it better than a drag queen! That’s right, in just a few weeks, the fabulous Donna Sachet will grace the field and sing her heart out to the audience of sports fans. Is she scared? Not at all.http://www.examiner.com/x-20225-SF-LGBT-Issues-Examiner~y2009m9d10-Donna-Sachet-star-drag-performer-sings-the-National-Anthem-at-the-San-Francisco-Giants-gameThey'll be playing Arizona, btw. Game starts at 7:15 p.m. PDT. At AT&T, they do the anthem at about 7:10. If you're anywhere in northern Kollyforniya, you can probably pick it up on KNBR 680. Or, you can find other stations here: http://mlb.mlb.com/sf/schedule/radioaffiliates.jsp

11. I'm rather amazed it's being done now |
|
Baseball is the most socially conservative of American professional sports. The Giants have, I think, two or three GLBT nights per season, but they've done that for only a few years and I don't know of any other MLB club that does it. But then, I'm not in the habit of checking out ball clubs' promotions.

13. No one with the guts to confront the real world in drag |

is going to be prone to stage fright, ever!
She's beautiful. I'm guessing she has a voice to match.
It's about bloody time they did this.
The city crowd will likely be cool about it. I just hope visitors manage to behave themselves for once in their lives.
I just wish I could see it.

others rights & opinions, artistic & political freedom of expression, freedom to be who one wants to be, not forced into ruling class corporate conformity, even to be a republican if that's what one chooses...(However, most here don't, thankfully)....Change! It's just in the air here, in the bay area & the northern CA coast, like great sourdough bread! ---- Understanding that others have something to offer no matter how different it might strike others....craving new ideas, learning & projecting......And, to SHOCK (in place of humdrum)....Nothing like a good shock to wake one up reminding them they are ALIVE! - That it all blows by much too quickly, so enjoy the ride while never hurting anyone as it inevitably unfolds....To the ones that allow things to flow & are open to them!
Cheers!! :bounce:
