when it finally comes to a vote....
Edited on Thu Sep-24-09 02:05 PM by 27inCali
we'll know who the public servants are, and who the corporate tools are.

Now that we have a majority, there is no excuse not to be pushing through with the big issues that have mattered to Democrats for years: healthcare, environment, financial reform, etc.

Now we know who the corporate tools are: with a Dem majority, they have nowhere to hide.

people like Ben Nelson, Diane Feinstein, Max Baucus (there are definitely more, just can't think of the names at the moment )etc, are being show for the back-stabbing assholes they are.

This Healthcare debate has been incredibly informative.

Progessive groups like MoveOn.org and others need to circulate a letter through the hill something to the effect of.

"When the vote comes for healthcare reform, you better be there with us, or else. We will make a list of every Dem that votes against it. They can rest assured that they will face and extremely well-funded challenger in their next primary even if that primary is 4-5 years away. We have long memories, we will remember those Senators who stood against us and protected the murderous insurance companies, and we will come for their heads."

1. Maybe I am being too optimistic,
but perhaps the Democratic leadership is starting to feel a little more accountability to the electorate at large, instead of just their own little inside track. It seemed like, a few weeks ago, that the public option was just about dead in the water, until pols in DC started hearing some of the general outcry to keep it in.
