Is It Free Speech to Tell Another Person To Kill Somone? |
|
Edited on Thu Sep-24-09 02:20 PM by berni_mccoy
Is it Free Speech to tell another person to kill someone?
Is it Free Speech to tell another person that someone is out to kill them and that they should defend themselves when that someone has no intention of killing them?
Is it Free Speech to tell another person that someone is out to get them and that they should defend themselves when that someone has no intention of 'getting' them?
Is it Free Speech to tell a group of fearful people that someone will lock them up unless they do something about it when that someone has no intention of locking them up?
Knowing how a group of people will react if you shout "FIRE!" in a crowded theater, is it Free Speech to shout "FIRE!"?
Innocent people like Doctor Tiller and Bill Sparkman are dying because the Republicans are shouting "BABY KILLER!" and "INTERNMENT CAMPS!" at a group full of fearful people who live in fear already because they are taught to hate and not trust the ones who are actually trying to help them.

3. Wonder how Bachmann would react to public calls for her execution |
|
She might think it's not so funny then.

(who I consider to be trolls masquerading as Democrats).
Some people seem to think this is Libertarian Underground.

6. No, the incitement of violence is not protected by the 1st Amendment |
|
But government cannot punish inflammatory speech unless it is directed to inciting and likely to incite imminent lawless action: http://www.law.cornell.edu/supct/html/historics/USSC_CR_0395_0444_ZO.html

11. It must be. After all money = free speech, so you can pay |
|
someone to kill a political figure you don't like. That would be protected political speech for you, but not for the hitman because he or she did it for money. Then, too, you could do the assasination yourself as long as you intend it as a political statement it would be free speech. Same thing for torture, unelss you work for the government, in which case it is classified not as criminal violation but a "policy difference." <sarcasm>
