2. There's an element of compassion |
|
and humanity missing in your OP. Nice work.
I hope it's just routine, nothing serious. She's a remarkable woman and a brilliant jurist.....................

5. Of course I wish her well. I also wish civil and equal rights well too |
|
which could have been lost if we didn't win
In fact you could forget about any elements of compassion from a federalist society judge if we didn't win
It is a realization that we were one election away from total disaster

16. True, but it could be worse. The unfortunate reality is that the conservatives on the court |
|
are much younger than the progressives, and that is an unerving situation
I have no doubt that if Justice Ginsberg thought she could not serve out her term while a Democrat is President, she would step down before that happens, so I am not concerned about that at all.
As you mentioned from the 2000 election, there were some who said it didn't matter whether it was a Democrat or republican president
I would like to think that idea has been put to rest for the time being, especially after the last eight years under bush

17. There's always the "Warren Phenomenon," |
|
which hits me hard every time a Democratic President gets to appoint a new Supreme Court Justice.
It scares me................

...but that she wasn't seriously ill.
All good thoughts go out for Justice Ginsberg. I don't know much about her except what was in the book, The Nine. She's a dear and dedicated public servant.

14. I saw that after posting - |
|
she had just been treated for iron deficiency - something that happens in cancer treatments.
Sounds like maybe it was just routine, but they're taking every precaution - as well they should.
I love, don't you, that she gave Justice Sotomayer her first fancy lace collar to wear with her judicial robes when she joined the Court?
