Latest political sex scandal!

It involves a lecherous city mayor, accused of firing a Human Resources director since she gave him the brush off.

Not only that, the mayor is on tape making really crude, drunken remarks of a sexual nature about one of his relatives.

Why do I find this whole thing funny?

when Playboy had an expose' called "Sex and Sin In Sheboygan?" It was decades ago - I remember it because I lived in a nearby town. Seems the cops were peeking into windows to find out if anyone was engaging in sodomy and/or oral sex, which was (is?) illegal.

9. Funny, the things you remember.

I believe it was Mad Magazine that one time did a feature on "songs that didn't make it" ( or some such thing)
and one of the songs was "My Kind Of Town, Sheboygan Is."

Could have been Cracked Magazine, I guess.
If I could clean out some of that 4 decade old stuff, I might be able to remember where I put my keys.

...AND put their "concerns in writing" AND she was shown these letters prior to being fired, then this woman is a fucking idiot.

Mayor Sleeze (if indeed he is one) putting the hard word on her at some time in the past is not germaine to this issue. He may well have, and of course doing so is stupid and wrong on multiple levels. However, given that her firing appears to have been called for by numerous others, her bringing up a sexual incident from the past looks a lot more like revenge than a legitimate unfair dismissal claim.

What is known is that's at this point, it's still a "He said/She said" situation.

Mayor Ryan does have the video working against him, though.

Oh, and just to put the icing on the cake, Ryan is a republican.

10. The vid shows him being a drunken boor.

Unpleasant to be around but not uncommon where numbers of people gather in the presence of alcohol.

He said/she said maybe. But what he said is very easily verifiable, given that according to him there is a paper trail.

He may or may have not made an advance on her. But that is not the dispute. Nor is she claiming sexual harrassment in the workplace. The dispute is that she claims her refusal of that advance is the reason he sacked her. His counter is that several people made complaints about her, and when asked to do so, all but two put those complaints in writing.

I presume that not even a Republican would be stupid enough to claim the existence of such correspondences when it's a given that he will almost certainly be ordered by a court to produce them, and that court will also wish to hear the testimony of those letters' purported authors.

Odds are good that he is just your run of the mill sleazy (married) boss. And unfortunately equally good that she's a flaming menace. False claims weaken legit claims and do as much to slow women's advance in the workplace as effectively as any glass ceiling.

12. Sheboygan's History Repeating Itself

It was the August 1972 Playboy Magazine, that ripped the scab off
the Sheboygan lifestyle. To image that a Director of Physical Education in the Sheboygan Public School System, could be living with a girl without being married!

He lost his job, and killed himself after the Playboy article!

Fast Forward 37 years....to an apparently alcoholic councilman elected Mayor. Video'd on a cellphone, making a statement about his sister-in-law...getting TV news on it, along with the accusation of a fired human resources employee...who happens to be female, African-American, and hired by the previous mayor...a Hispanic that everyone voted for, but nobody in Sheboygan liked after his second day on the job!

So, they elected the 'lush' they knew. He came of easy living, parents with an Oil Distributorship...never had to work hard. Just hang out with da boyz. And drink.

Now, Jay Leno has become the Playboy Magazine of our generation. "One half of the folks in Sheboygan want him to resign. The other half, want the phone number of the sister-in-law". Leno rants.
