So Justice Ginsberg was in hiospital tonight ......
..... reported my local nooz and reported now in the WaPo.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2009/09/24/AR2009092405276.html

It was all precautionary and all ....... but stay well, Judge. We need ya.

Which got me to thinking ..... why does it seem as if our bad karma is such that the repubs get to name supremes that replace liberals with loons and we get to simply hold ground?

1. We get to build ground.
We will get to replace a conservative. Plus 2 or 3 old liberals with young liberals.

2. Which conservative?
It's gonna have to be Thomas or Scalia, because Roberts and Mini-Scalia are in their 50s.

3. Kennedy.
I really think he will retire some time in the next 8 years. Just a feeling. He is the only possible replacement that would move the court. Instead of a swing, we'd have 5 liberals against the 4 horsemen of the apocalypse.

6. I'd rather have one of the other four go
Kennedy votes with the angels about 25% of the time. Scalia et al never do.

7. Scalia is the worst thing to happen to the Court this past century.
But, replacing Kennedy with a liberal will give a 5 vote liberal block. On their nastiest, they only would have 4 votes to work with.

Plus, if one of the four horsemen were to come up for replacement, the battle in the Senate would be epic. A Kennedy replacement would get an easier confirmation. Scalia or Thomas? Forget it. Gridlock on everything.

4. From your lips to Earl Warren's ears.
I don't see us gaining much.

Slappy and Nino are about our best hope and Slappy's a kid at 62 or so. Fat Tony is in his seventies, but I think he'll go until he's 90 .... unless he keeps snarfing pasta and explodes.

The new kids DumbFukBush named will be there longer than I'll be alive.

5. It's early in his term... Obama will get to replace a wingnut at some point..
...and I'll certainly be glad he's in office if and when Ginburg is replaced.

8. Which of the wingnuts do you think that would be?
Two of them are *very* young by supreme standards.

9. Scalia is not young....
...and not especially healthy.

I think Kennedy will retire before Obama's term is up..... and we can then replace the "swing" vote with a solid liberal.

Also..... I expect Obama to be President until January 20, 2017. Scalia will be 80 years old then. Thomas will be in his 70s.

Both of them are overweight.
