The letter I wish the Democratic Party would write
Dear American Citizens:

Although we have the White House and a majority in both houses of Congress, and although single-payer is the obvious clear solution to the problems of health-care cost and access, we have chosen a different path.

The American economy and the fiscal and physical well-being of you and your families are less important to us than currying favor with the insurance industry, the pharmaceutical industry, and other health-related profiteers.

Regardless, please continue to vote for us as if your life depended on it.

Thank you,
The Democratic Party

2. I am sure
in some parallel universe, the Democratic Party did send out such a letter. Unfortunately, I cannot say the same for this one.

4. The DNC called last night and my wife cussed them out - actually using stronger language than I do
when they call.

When people like her are getting that mad at them, they better pay attention.

I know that I will not vote or support any Dem who does not back real healthcare reform. She is now on that page as well.

6. The intellectually superior Fools will...
Be scratching their heads wondering why people vote against their alleged best interests again in the next election.

Just a few months ago, they laughed at those 30% republicans having a chance in the next election, but the Democrats seem to have forgotten that they still need their base to actually get out and vote for them to win. Otherwise, that 30% republican wins, and the Democrats go back to saying, but if we only had this many in the House and/or Senate, we could do something about it. Apparently NOT Jackasses!

7. It is NOT "in our best interests" to keep electing traitors who side with the enemy at almost
every turn.

The Big Health Industry Players are putting up big bucks to make it so.

14. We're Dems. We should send it.
:D

The problem, of course, is that papers require individual names, not group affiliations.

So the signature could be: "John Smith, member of the Democratic Party."

15. I wish Barack Obama and Max Baucus would send it
They're the ones who want a "uniquely American" solution that delivers more people into the clutches of Big Insurance. It would be a shame to take the credit away from them.

16. True.
Maybe we could all send it as a LTTE, prefaced by a "Dear President Obama/Max Baucus, your party requests that you send this letter to the public you serve:"

The letter I wish Nader supporters would write

Dear fellow progressives,

Although we helped to give the White House to George W. Bush in 2000, and although it makes sense to unite against a common enemy, we have chosen a different path.

The future of the world and physical well-being of you and your families ae less important to us than attacking those who are insufficiently loyal to radical ideas that can't win elections in 80% of Congressional districts.

Regardless, please continue to think we are on your side, and have some purpose other than electing Republicans.

Thank you,
The Green Party

20. It's a great trump card for Obama and the current Congress
The more they trash progressives' "hope" for "change," the more that people who notice are recast as the dread "Naderites."

19. Then we have to change the system
Edited on Fri Sep-25-09 01:58 PM by Juche
It took decades of reaganomics and right wing misinformation for this country to descend into full blown plutocracy. It'll take time to change it.

Public funding of elections
Strict limits on lobbying and lobbyists
Ending the system where ex-politicians get hired as lobbyists after their careers in congress end

21. That's why it pained me no end that the Democrats opted for the
post-partisanship platform and wasted the opportunity to nail Reaganomics for the economic train-wreck it wrought. The public was ready for real change, away from the GOP's failed agenda, and instead we got this malarkey about a partisan "food fight" being our problems.
