Some thoughts on Michael Moore's movie on Capitalism ..... |
|
Firstly I havent seen the movie yet - and I assume that general thesis of the movie that Capitalism in the current form is bad and must be at the very - restrained.
Do not confuse Capitalism with Corporatism -
To me Capitalism and its effect are not a CAUSE - but rather a Symptom.
we need to fix the cause - which our case is the political system. We need TRUE democracy- Where one human = one vote & everyone has equal voice. Such a system will automatically place the required restraint on capitalism.
Capitalism in its most abstract sense is an efficient way to allocate financial resources ... It is like, say a system to handle steam .. we need to capture it, channel it and send it to the right places - so that it of use to all of us . Incorrect use can cause both - wastage of a precious resource and serious burns.
Corporatism - on the other hand - is Capitalism gone bad. It is causing Severe Burns to the society at large.
If I made a movie - this would be my line of attack

1. Isn't "corporatist" and "corporatism" just made up nonsense like "Islamism?" |
|
Seems to me it's kind of like a phony, wannabe McCarthyism. "Oh, we can't trust Obama. He's a member of the corporatist party."
I've never seen anybody actually use it that wasn't a buffoon.

5. No. It is a distinct political school of thought |
|
that has been around for centuries. Although, the OP, has no clue about it either.

2. Free market Capatialism is not benign. It must be heavily regulated |
|
to prevent oppression and exploitation. Capitalism, as it is accepted today, is the problem. Redefining it or scrapping it is needed.
