Poll: Three-Fourths Of Republicans Say Congressional GOPers Haven’t Explained Their Health Care Plans

Dems today have been jumping on the fact that the new CBS/New York Times poll finds that an astonishing 76% of respondents say Republicans in Congress haven’t clearly explained their plans to reform the health care system.

But there’s an even more interesting number in the poll’s internals: Nearly as many Republican respondents — nearly three out of four — say the same thing.

Here’s the poll’s question: “Do you think the Republicans in Congress have clearly explained their plans for changing the health care system, or haven’t they clearly explained their plans?” And the answers, among Republicans:

Have explained 17
Haven’t explained 73
Don’t know 10

This is a rare case where Republican opinion is in line with public opinion overall. There’s broad agreement — among Democrats, independents, and, yes, Republicans — that Congressional GOPers haven’t clearly explained their reform plans.

No question, the poll contains some pretty sobering numbers for Obama. But the above is just an awful finding for Republicans. It’s hard to imagine a data point more in sync with today’s Dem talking point: That the 100-day anniversary of the GOP’s promise to produce a health care bill is upon us, and the GOP has yet to shed its “party of No” label.

After all, if even a big majority of Republicans say it…

7. They have but people don't want to accept that they are serious.
1. Tort reform aka restricting people with real judgments for real negligence from getting awards that create real consequences for hurting people and even ruining their lives.

2. Deregulation. Stop laughing...they are serious. They assert that the reason insurance costs so much is that they have too many rules and requirements. Apparently they believe that the insurance companies are already going too far in taking care of the customer's issues and could cut prices a lot if they didn't have to jump through all the hoops they do now to legally be able to take our money.

3. As a part of proposal #2 they suggest that insurance companies be able to then be able to transact business across state lines after any restrictions on the federal level. This is painted as a way to open up the market but the idea is to get a set up like the credit card companies so they can hide out in the state with the least regulation and sell their new unregulated crap from whatever place will give them the freest hand at stealing from the nation with the least expectation of giving anything in return for premiums.

4. Continue to have people utilize emergency rooms where possible as that runs up the costs and typically will eventually be paid by the government which "drowns the pig" and lines pockets fast with one stone. I'm also fairly certain that they'd like to see undocumented people to be turned away to die or spread a disease but would like to trick us into doing it so they can run on it.

5. Advise people to beg and pray.

Now once they have that then they'll be happy to talk about mandates and even giving some tax credits to deplete the treasury, transferring more general wealth to the top 1%.

and tha...that....that's all folks!

The Republicans will generally only speak to one point at any given time because no one makes them and if they did the general population might actually get real with what they are all about.

11. Wow. That's an embarrassing poll`
To think, that the opposing party in the most major discussion on policy in a decade have no solution or even any IDEAS for how to solve the problem.

If I were a Republican lawmaker, I'd hang my head in shame.

Or at least start looking around for a conservative think-tank or lobbying firm to work for.
