If you do not buy coverage, you still are not covered. You simply are fined.

So if his his goal is universal coverage, the Baucus bill and HR3200 fail. And, realistically, no amount of markup will fix them.

However HR676 does cover everyone.

Or if we imprison everybody, we would have universal coverage also!

2. How much is the coverage and how much is the fine?
I'm not going to approve of it no matter what the answer, but I am curious. Telling people how they have to spend net income is not something I'm comfortable with.

4. Holy crap.
Am I the only one who sees a problem with this? Half the country will be unable to afford it and opt for the fine, others will opt for the fine on general principle. Unless they make it a crime and are actually going to send people to jail, as my loony RW co-workers seem to think, in which case they're going to make criminals out of a lot of people who simply can't afford it.

There HAS to be a better idea than this.
