Shooting outside school injures student in classroom
A 13-year-old student inside a classroom was injured by breaking glass when a gunman opened fire outside the old Southeast High School building at 3500 Meyer Boulevard about 3:15 this afternoon.

Someone fired 10 shots, and at least some of the bullets entered the building, according to Andre Riley, a Kansas City School District spokesman. The student hit by breaking glass suffered minor injuries, Riley said. He had stayed after school to work on a project, police said.

The building currently houses the Afrikan Centered Education Collegium Campus. The elementary school classes had just let out when the shooting happened.

The shooting involved two cars, one carrying a man, woman and two toddlers. They were headed to the school to pick up someone when a gunman got out of another car and opened fired on them. No one in their car was hit, police said.

2. School shootings aren't national news if they happen in low income black areas.
If this shit went down in Johnson County it'd be getting a hell of a lot more coverage.

The douchebags at the Kansas City Star have given more prominence to a story about the Royals' trainer resigning.

With any luck the assholes that initiated the shooting will soon point their little guns at the wrong person, catch a few bullets themselves, and die quickly.

7. It got a lot of coverage on the TV news
But if it hadn't happened at a school they probably wouldn't have touched it.

10. Maybe I checked the news too late, but it appears to have dropped quickly.

3. I wonder if the involved parties were fine, upstanding citizens?

4. The kid who caught the bullet was sitting in a classroom presumably trying to get an education.
Mr. "Mommy should have had an abortion" who pulled the trigger but is such an incompetent fuck he missed his target and hit an innocent kid...probably not the sort one would classify as an upstanding citizen.

5. Who "caught a bullet"? The injured child would be an innocent bystander.
He obviously wasn't involved in the incident.

6. Getting shot means he was involved in the incident
despite the fact that he obviously had no intention of being involved.

12. The obvious solution
To what sounds like a gang related shooting is to disarm law abiding gun owners

9. I stand corrected.
Nevertheless, the world would be a better place if the person who pulled the trigger would point the gun at himself and try again. It's pretty difficult for a school to realize its potential when there are bullets flying through the windows.
