Christians flee spread of Islamic law, a run on the banks by people fleeing Sharia Law
http://www.independent.ie/world-news/christians-flee-spread-of-islamic-law-375025.html
"...Moves earlier this year to adopt sharia in the neighboring state of Kaduna triggered Muslim-Christian clashes in which hundreds of people died. Mr Obasanjo called that crisis the most serious since the Sixties' civil war over breakaway Biafra...

...The state government had declared the day a holiday to reduce tensions. Local banks have reported a run on deposits because of withdrawals by non-Muslims heading south. Observers say the flight of Christians could hurt the northern economy..."

1. I'd flee sharia law also. Who, in their right mind, would choose to live like that?

And may include all, if any Atheists.

3. there are indigenous people who practice Animism.. unfortunately, receive no protection provided to
other religions who have a book, the men are killed outright and females and boy children showing no pubic hair are spared to become slaves, captors ate allowed to rape and impregnate them.. this is EXACTLY what is happening in Dar Fur, the Refugees there are Muslims who still retain old tribal animist beliefs.. but lots of places indeginious people become Muslims just to keep their heads attached, none of my Moor friends in N.W. Africa ever went to Mosque or prayed at all.. but they said they were Muslim.

6. Uh, no. Not in Nigeria.
The Yuruba, for example, are very influential and the culture is well protected.

9. death for Adultery.? . but Muhammad committed Adultery, that's peculiar, in the Sunnah everything
he does becomes legal or outright prescribed even trumping what Allah dictates.. even requited under penalty of death..

20. she didnt read it, she just heard it was on the Anti-Islamic list, an thought it was a hate book
because of that Muslims are brainwashed to cry persecution...Islamophobia...persecution... if non-Muslims find out about their actual history, or what islam is really about. even what the word islam means..

here it is.....
http://convertingtoislam.com/why.html

if you try to copy something they make Surrender to Allah first.. is that paranoid..??

Critics and observers must not forget, though, that "peace" here is inextricably intertwined with "submission" and "surrender" — specifically to the will, desires, and commands of Allah, but of course also to those who set themselves up as the transmitters, interpreters, and teachers in Islam. Peace is thus not something achieved through mutual respect, compromise, love, or anything similar. Peace is something that exists as a consequence of and in the context of submission or surrender.

I hate any sort of religious theocracy and persecution, but this has a lot more to deal with fundamentalism and politics *now* than what Mohammed did or didn't say or do centuries ago. (Whatever some of the extremists themselves might claim.)

You could find nutty religious demagoguery and 'whoever is not with me or against me' claims somewhere in the texts of most religions - certainly including the Bible.

7. The Muslim north of Nigeria is like our fundamentalist south; Christians are considered like Jews
Edited on Sat Sep-26-09 05:53 PM by HamdenRice
Most of Nigeria's instability, going back to independence, has been related to the fact that large northern Muslim provinces are very poor, very backwards, religious, unwilling to enter the 20th or 21st century, and also have large voting populations.

Most of the wealth and economic activity occurs in the mostly Christian/animist south (Ibo) and west (Yuruba). Money is drained from the south and west to support the poverty of the north, and yet the north retains a mentality that they should rule Nigeria.

At the same time, most Christian and Ibo middle class and entrepreneurial classes are less rooted in their regions and settle wherever there is opportunity -- and that includes the north.

So the prejudice against "Christians" is not about indigenous northern Christians. It's about Ibo who come north to run the shops and stores, teach, and do other economically valuable activities. They are considered by northerners the same way that southerns thought about "carpet baggers" and "Jewish merchants" in the late 1800s and early 1900s in this country. It's both religious prejudice and prejudice against "outsiders" from other parts of Nigeria.

21. Why?
Rent to own... i.e rent a center is Sharia compliant.

No interest invovled. This TV = $600 can be yours for $20 per week for next 3 years. Now that equals a 30% APR if it was a traditional loan but it isn't a loan. The bank is simply buying the item and selling it to you without interest at a higher price.

Sharia banking is a shell game. It is interest and sometimes cripplingly high without calling it interest.

22. No usury for one thing...
Edited on Sun Sep-27-09 02:57 PM by JCMach1
For example, I pay no interest on my credit card with my Islamic bank. There is a small yearly fee about $100 and a set fee (about $12) if I do not pay off my monthly balance.

The only drawback is that there is not such a high credit limit (around 10,000).

Payments are made as a percentage basis. I pay off 20% each month if there is a balance and do not pay in full.

or take a car purchase... My new car interest was around 3.25% only it's not really percent. Literally, the bank owns the car until I have made all payments. That 3.25 consists of what they call profit. The Islamic banking stuff can get hella complicated with even more exotic stuff than this.

I love a bank where I can walk in if I have no money, write a check to the manager (post-dated) for cash and only get charged a $4 transaction fee!

I didn't know American banks were such vultures until I got the heck out of dodge.

Sharia banking is the bomb!!!

Uh oh, might be in trouble! Used Sharia and bomb in the same sentence :scared:
