Joe Wilson turns GOP fundraising star

Doubt that Rep. Joe Wilson, R-S.C., has become a hero to many on the right since he called President Obama a liar in the middle of Obama's address to Congress? You must not be on the National Republican Congressional Committee's e-mail list.

Not many people get to sign their names to one of the NRCC's fundraising e-mails. Its chair, Pete Sessions, does -- so does House Minority Leader John Boehner, and Rep. Tom Price, R-Ga., who's the leader of the House's conservative caucus. No one other than those three has done so since the end of June, at least not according to my inbox. But on Friday, Wilson did.

The congressman has raised quite a bit of money for himself since his outburst; now, apparently, the NRCC has decided he can pull in the big bucks for the other candidates. Given what I saw at the 9/12 protest in Washington, D.C. a couple weeks ago -- lots of signs praising Wilson, and adopting his theme -- they're probably right.

If this is what passes for a "politician" on the right, then it's the end of the Republican party or civil war - there's no future in the path they've chosen.

8. I read it trumpeted here about how much money Wilson's words raised for his opponent,

but I didn't read anything about all the money that it raised for him, so it was hardly as one-sided as it was made out to be.

Miller's donations were public information on Act Blue. Wilson's, we'll have to wait for his FEC filing.

Here it was made to seem that it was his opponent who raked in all the contributions, but Wilson hardly came up empty handed.
