4. The internet sucks too. Let's all stop using it. It'll be green for the planet...
But I'll let others stop using it first. Preferably the ones who say "global warming is killing us!!!!!!!11!!!!!!!!!!11111!!1112" as they would finally be doing something constructive... (it's not much different than people who hate government getting elected to a government position, trashing the place, and then saying how government can't do anything right. If they hate government, why do they bother getting in and why do these sleazeball's constituents believe the tripe to begin with?)

5. No, the internet doesn't suck.
At least it's pretty good for me anyway.

2. (shrug) The very nature of twitter makes some link-shortening service virtually mandatory...
And even some forum sites (DU, for example) choke on long urls.

None of those potential issues with tinyurl are new.

3. True. I just hope the author of that article is wrong and nothing happens with the service,
which BTW does add an extra layer of detail and as such opens up another potential opportunity for malware - should tinyurl's host site become infected with malware.

I've seen URLs on DU (and other forums, I don't live here) get choked. I usually then tell people what to go google if they care and/or find an alternate site that has the same news article. They're common too.

9. TinyUrl has been around for 7 years
If the site were to succomb to Malware it would have done so by now.

While I agree, I'm not fond of URL shorteners when posting links on a message board, as was stated above, such services are vital when using micro-bloggers like Twitter.

As was also stated, don't click strange links.

6. One of the comments says it all.
"Hey I have an idea, just don't click the damn link if it's from someone you don't trust."

12. Only click links from trusted sources. Yeah, sites change and disappear
all the time. It won't matter if you use tinyURL or not.
