1. Is it? Since you posted your title, I'm reluctant to read it. And if it's r/w
garbage, why post it here?

2. IF it's right wing - it's garbage That is axiomatic.
In this case the root argument is from a Heritage Foundation website - there is no more rabid right source of disinformation than that group.

Do you think you are fooling anyone?

The Republicans are a dead party and it is their use of lies like this that has caused their extinction.

Great of you to help them along.

What the hell is the matter with you? I'm looking for some help here. I'm new to this place but the more I hang here the more I am starting to dislike the paranoia bullshit. I'm not trying to stir up trouble but there are some complete idiots on here. What are the rules on this place because I have seen much more bullshit than this thread.

25. we're not paranoid, there are people out to get us.
post a few paragraphs of the article. That will help. Posting only a link to a suspect website not only looks suspicious but sets off lots of fears. Posters have posted links to nasty websites that infect computers.

Post a few paragraphs, clip and paste what you think is most relevant, and others will then look and decide if they want to see more.

3. Yes. Welfare is usually defined as "Aid for Families with Dependent Children."
They're including every program for the poor: "cash payments, food, housing, Medicaid and various social services."

9. Read and learn. There are sites you never want to get opinions from
because they are 100% rightwing.

And I'm not 'picking on you', I'm telling you you are wrong to post a link without any background, expecting people to click on it. I refuse to do that. Some background other than what you wrote would have been nice. And I didn't trash you, I have in the past given you the benefit of the doubt. So don't whine to me in a pm, but maybe take some advice.

I did not know that about the site. Seriously. I did not. Whining? I did not consider it whining I considered outstretching my hand asking for help. My apologies. I'm new to all this seriously. I'm not trying to be a trouble maker I'm only trying to learn.

16. Understandable
But, how does a rookie learn? By just reading and keeping his mouth shut? I would imagine I DO have to ask for advice. I would prefer to ask what someones opinion is of something on here than to make myself look like a complete fool like I may have already done. There appears to be a tough crowd here but, I have thick skin and would still prefer to be here than amongst the clowns and liars on the right.

Edited on Sun Sep-27-09 07:25 PM by Beaverhausen
Look for "mission statements" or "who we are" or even who advertises on the site. You can usually tell if it's a right wing propaganda site.

edit- for example, here is the cns page for their commentaries. All well known right wing hacks. So, you can usually be sure that anything on this site is not true.

22. Hi Beaver
Edited on Sun Sep-27-09 07:41 PM by SweepPicker
Thanks for the link and the welcome!! I opened the link and the first thing that I noticed was this:

Conservatives Now Outnumber Liberals Almost Two to One in America, According to Washington Post Poll

Now even a rookie like myself knows this is a total lie but the problem I would have in making a right wingers head explode is: How do I prove that statement is a lie? I am getting sick and tired of being bashed down by these fools when I know damn well that most of what I claim is simple common sense!

28. try to find that poll and look at the numbers
they may be creatively interpreting the responses.
this image is always handy to have around.

And as far as the Obama spending more on welfare than bush spent in Iraq, the question should really be, did Obama spend more than Bush did on welfare. And when they say welfare, what are they including in that number?

19. The title is all you need ...
"Obama Will Spend More on Welfare in the Next Year Than Bush Spent on Entire Iraq War, Study Reveals"

Funny thing is, I wouldn't have a problem with it if it was true. Much rather spend that kind of $$ doing something good, but the objective is to get the right wingers' heads to explode, so they make this sort of crap up as fodder.

20. Yes it is,,,,
Whenever you see the name Heritage Foundation, as you do in this article you know it is conservative lies and misinformation.

The Heritage Foundation is one of the conservative organizations which is always throwing out misinformation trying to discredit Democrats or other liberal groups and individuals. They are extremists and not to be taken seriously.

Organizations who present them as a source without stating their bias need their knuckles rapped sharply.

Liberty University (falwells 'law' school) Regents Universitay (robertsons 'law' school) both dedicated to the overthrow of our secular government and installation of a theocratic dominionist fascist state.
Help me out here, who are the others? I can't think I have a migraine coming on. It is time for me to go into the dark....

35. I have a few others ....
For economics the Grace Foundation which promotes the conservative shrink government agenda during Reagan, as does the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. Bob Jones University, of course and Oral Roberts University. (I think Oral Roberts is the one who claims to have spoken to the 900 foot Jesus.)

I can't think of anymore right now either. It is very late and my brain feels like it is stuck together with wallpaper paste. I know there are others, anyone else young and spry who can suggest a few while I check it out tomorrow when I am sure I am sentient?

History

The Cybercast News Service was launched on June 16, 1998 as a news source for individuals, news organizations and broadcasters who put a higher premium on balance than spin and seek news that’s ignored or under-reported as a result of media bias by omission.

Study after study by the Media Research Center, the parent organization of CNSNews.com, clearly demonstrate a liberal bias in many news outlets – bias by commission and bias by omission – that results in a frequent double-standard in editorial decisions on what constitutes "news."

In response to these shortcomings, MRC Chairman L. Brent Bozell III founded CNSNews.com in an effort to provide an alternative news source that would cover stories that are subject to the bias of omission and report on other news subject to bias by commission.

CNSNews.com endeavors to fairly present all legitimate sides of a story and debunk popular, albeit incorrect, myths about cultural and policy issues.

CNSNews.com has a full staff of credentialed journalists at its world headquarters in Alexandria, Virginia, staffs full time news bureaus on in Jerusalem and the Pacific Rim, and works with credentialed correspondents in London, Paris, Moscow and Nairobi. In addition to news, CNSNews.com is proud to present a full slate of commentaries by some of the brightest minds and sharpest wits in the nation, and a full stable of cartoonists to provides you with a morning political chuckle.

CNSNews.com is a division of the Media Research Center, a not-for-profit 501 (c)(3) organization. Like National Public Radio and the Public Broadcasting System, CNSNews.com is able to provide its services and information to the public at no cost, thanks to the generous support of our thousands of donors and their tax-deductible contributions. However, unlike NPR or PBS, CNSNews.com does not accept any federal tax money for its operations.
