5. I was in a place like that once.
I had a halloween tour of one of the oldest and most beautiful mansions in Spfld IL coutesy of the caretaker, who was dating my best friend at the time. It was run down but still awe inspiring when I saw it. In every room the fireplace was different, inlaid with patterns of tiles and/or stone in an art nouveau-art and crafts style. An entire hallway, 2 stories worth paneled in tooled leather. The most magnificent bedroom was built to accomodate Teddy Roosevelt in gilded age style for just one night. I was a few years too late to see the Tiffany glass tho. The glassware, including a glass ceiling, had been stolen by previous managers of the place, one who had paid his charges to do it for him back when the place was briefly used as a halfway house for recovering addicts.

All gone now, save the memories, thanks for the link! :)

6. I know that the focus should be on the pics, but I hate going to a site
and seeing unreadable stuff because of the color-on-color fonts - my eyes just can't handle them.

Too bad, too, because I love old buildings.

9. Thank you!
In elementary school we went on a field trip to Bunker Hill to view the Victorian homes that were about to be moved or destroyed to make way for the Downtown Los Angeles financial district buildings... I've been a HUGE fan of old homes and buildings ever since. That might be why I love Bodie Historic State Park as well.

Excellent find! Thanks again!
