"World leader" admits that he's puzzled by righties comparing Obama to Hitler
President Obama at the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation dinner last night, discussing false claims made about the health care reform bill, told a little anecdote.

"I was up at the G20 -- just a little aside -- I was up at the G20, and some of you saw those big flags and all the world leaders come in and Michelle and I are shaking hands with them," the president said. "One of the leaders -- I won't mention who it was -- he comes up to me. We take the picture, we go behind.

"He says, 'Barack, explain to me this health care debate.'

"He says, 'We don't understand it. You're trying to make sure everybody has health care and they're putting a Hitler mustache on you -- I don't -- that doesn't make sense to me. Explain that to me.'"

Asked who this was, White House press secretary Robert Gibbs would say only "a world leader."

We're a nation of both easily led idiots and the weak willed opposition who doesn't have the intestinal fortitude to call the easily led idiots on half the shit they say...let alone on all of it.

3. Easy. There are some things lots of Americans care about more than their own interests.

4. No one can explain why America is bi-polar.
We profess our love for life, but won't pay for it if it costs a lot of money.

6. Actually it's fairly simple to explain, and of course would be dismissed as 'conspiratorial'
... since it involves people having to acknowledge and admit that most of their thoughts and beliefs were and are shaped via external sources w/agendas.

Simple sociology 101 stuff, yet bitterly, fiercely opposed by many here ... even by the educated 'professional' class.

7. I'm sure you can find professionals that will agree and disagree with you.
All human interaction is about manipulation between two or more people. Our social web only relies on us as a collective needing and wanting the same stuff or goals as the rest of the people that make up society. You are right, very easy to understand and can spend a lifetime arguing against it.

9. The dissenting voice can be found among a minority, but too many are beholden to current "values."

11. We're watching it unfold before our very eyes, yet few seem to notice or care.

5. "You're trying to make sure everybody has health care."
Single payer would have been the way to ensure that.

8. It's simple if you call it psychological projection.
Hitler is on their mind because they like the small guy enforcing law and order and curbing the bad guys by scaring them, they'd gladly wear brown shirts in order to help.

12. You have to practically be a psychoanalyst...

and understand the world of Fox News insanity, where Fascists are equivalent to Marxists...and dinosaurs once roamed the earth with Jesus Christ.

14. Watch as the story morphs
It's already forming before our very eyes: Instead of this being about universal health care, or unprincipled opposition, or media obtuseness, or Hitler mustaches, this will become about "Who said that?" The media can't possibly figure out (for example) if Sarah Palin is lying about "death panels," but watch them go into investigative overdrive to figure out which one of the G20 leaders asked Obama this impertinent question.
