Oy vey. Healthcare Email from RW relative. Please help. |
|
I'm sitting here with the flu and not thinking straight, when my moderate RW relative (oxymoron, I know) sends me this email. I usually copy every single person on the chain when I get these. there are over 100 people hehehe  Can you please help with this? Of course it's all caps. Thanks.
FINALLY...THE $64,000 QUESTION WAS ASKED... YESTERDAY ON "ABC-TV" (BETTER KNOWN AS THE ALL BARRACK CHANNEL) DURING THE "NETWORK SPECIAL ON HEALTH CARE".... OBAMA WAS ASKED:
MR. PRESIDENT WILL YOU AND YOUR FAMILY GIVE UP YOUR CURRENT HEALTH CARE PROGRAM AND JOIN THE NEW 'UNIVERSAL HEALTH CARE PROGRAM' THAT THE REST OF US WILL BE ON ????"..... (BET YOU ALREADY KNOW THE ANSWER)... THERE WAS A STONEY SILENCE AS OBAMA IGNORED THE QUESTION AND CHOSE NOT TO ANSWER IT !!!... IN ADDITION, A NUMBER OF SENATORS WERE ASKED THE SAME QUESTION AND THEIR RESPONSE WAS..."WE WILL THINK ABOUT IT." AND THEY DID. IT WAS ANNOUNCED TODAY ON THE NEWS THAT THE "KENNEDY HEALTH CARE BILL" WAS WRITTEN INTO THE NEW HEALTH CARE REFORM INITIATIVE ENSURING THAT CONGRESS WILL BE 100% EXEMPT! SO, THIS GREAT NEW HEALTH CARE PLAN THAT IS GOOD FOR YOU AND I IS NOT GOOD ENOUGH FOR OBAMA, HIS FAMILY OR CONGRESS...?? WE (THE AMERICAN PUBLIC) NEED TO STOP THIS PROPOSED DEBACLE ASAP !!!!... THIS IS TOTALLY WRONG !!!!! PERSONALLY, I CAN ONLY ACCEPT A UNIVERSAL HEALTH CARE OVERHAUL THAT EXTENDS TO EVERYONE... NOT JUST US LOWLY CITIZENS... WHILE THE WASHINGTON "ELITE" KEEP RIGHT ON WITH THEIR GOLD-PLATED HEALTH CARE COVERAGES. IF YOU AGREE PLEASE PASS THIS ON ....IF NOT PLAN TO SUFFER WITH THE OBAMA HEALTH CARE PLAN ....FOR FREE.... WHILE OUR SELF-SERVING POLITICIANS MAKE SURE THAT THEY TAKE CARE OF THEIR BUTTS AT OUR EXPENSE.

Second...Um...why would they give up their health care for something intended on protecting those with none? That is of course presuming that the question was even asked.
Oh wait...the author of this thinks that Universal Health care/Single Payer is something that someone actually proposed. So basically they're a misinformed cretin.
Apparently they think that Obama is one of the elites too. That is fucking adorable.

See " Obama refused to answer a question about health plan options for his family-Fiction!"I found that through google in less time that it would take to create the thread, and I type at 120 words a minute. However, for people like this Facts don't matter. They will not believe you no matter what you send them or how much fact you give them. The best answer is to put them on ignore and never invite them to holiday meals.

9. #1, none of the above occurred |
|
#2, if a program is 'universal', everyone is on it, there is no choice #3, none of the programs being discussed, sadly, is 'universal' #4, you won't be 'forced' onto the new plan. As a matter of fact, you can't pick the new plan unless you don't have private insurance. #5, I'd LOVE to have universal health care. Sadly, only a handful of the most liberal congresscritters support one. If he/she really supports universal health care, call your congressperson and demand it.

God I hate all caps.
I'd ask for proof that this stuff actually happened. Not just a bunch of words, but rather links, credible news articles, video clips, etc. But, then again, we don't NEED proof. We oughta just listen, 'cause obviously 'tis true! :eyes:

The short, first answer is always, "Prove it." Got a link to a clip? Otherwise, I'm not buying.
The larger question for your moderate right wing relative is to ask why he or she feels compelled to distribute a patent lie? Hasn't that person ever heard of the 10 Commandments? One of them, as I recall, was pretty much against lying. Not a very spiritual thing to do. And if the arguments against the richest nation in the history of the world taking care of its own citizens are just lies, what does that say about those arguments? If the truth will serve, why resort to lies?

13. Direct your relative to HR 676 and ask her to write letters to support |
|
Healthcare--Medicare--for all--just as she says she wants--and Obama does not (apparently)
We need her help! Obama won't give us Medicare for All unless we demand it!

16. The so-called "Gold Plated" plan that the "elite" has |
|
is the same Blue Cross Standard Option that pretty much anyone who works for the govt and is OK with that premium can also get. So you can start by asking this relative if they bothered to verify the info first.
It's very similar to a lot of other plans, there's a monthly premium of about 152/month for just the policy holder, or 357/month for a family (for non-postal workers), it has a pretty big out of pocket limit (either 5K or 7K annually, depending on whether you stick to their preferred providers) there's an annual deductible, there are caps on the number of visits to certain specialists they'll pay.
Members of Congress do enjoy some privileges. They can also pay an additional (approx) 500/year and have access to the Capital Physician for certain things. Plus, Members (not their families) can get free outpatient care at Walter Reade or Bethesda Naval. There are govt rates for inpatient care at those hospitals.
There is a congressperson who is eschewing coverage for himself until universal health reform comes about. (Steve Kagen, M.D., of WI)
Ah, the myth of the outrageous.
