Give a Day of Volunteer Service in 2010, Get a Day of Disney Theme Park Fun – Free
Breaking news…as we just announced on Good Morning America, if you give a day of volunteer service to a participating organization, you’ll get one day of free admission to a Disney Park. It’s a first-of-its-kind program we’re calling “Give a Day, Get a Disney Day.”

And yes, it’s that simple — a free one-day ticket to a Disneyland or Walt Disney World theme park for guests who volunteer a day of service to a participating organization. We’re celebrating you and the good things you do for your communities.

Our program officially begins on January 1, 2010. When it’s live, you’ll be able to visit www.DisneyParks.com or www.DisneyParks.ca and search for an eligible volunteer project. After completing the volunteer work, an e-mail will be sent from Disney with a link to print out a certificate to redeem at a theme park for a free one-day, one-park admission. And if you’re unable to use the ticket, it can be donated to a charity designated by Disney.

With this announcement, we’re looking for 1 million people with a passion to make a difference. And we’re working with HandsOn Network to do it. They’re helping make sure you find the perfect volunteer work. And many of the program’s volunteer opportunities will be for the family.

1. Thanks for posting this!
I'm certain I'd have missed it because I don't watch much television.

4. And Disney gets millions in tax credits.....brilliant.
They essentially force tickets on organizations.

People probably don't use them and never would use them. Disney see s10%-20 of the donated tickets actually used. Disney uses total value of all tickets to reduce thier tax burden.

7. Agreed, and I've had misgivings about Disney in recent years
Some of Disney's policies have been on the progressive side, but as a whole I see Disney as just another mega-corporation, part of the anti-Democratic media monopoly with Fox, Viacom, and GE. It's frightening to think how much of the media is owned by just those 4 entities, and they all should be broken up via anti-trust laws.

6. A day of torture in return for a day of service?
Edited on Tue Sep-29-09 12:32 PM by rd_kent
I say that in jest, but it is still not a good deal. Even if they give you a free admission ticket, you still have to pay about $100 per person per day to eat.......

8. Interesting how people pay big bucks to stand in line for 2 hours
For a 3-minute ride. And then stand in line for 2 hours again.

Even during the slowest times of the year, the wait times are just as long, because the Disney theme parks pare down the number of rides that are open.
