Senator Conrad is doing an outstanding job! Speaking plainly. Point. By. Point. Complete
with visual aids which I think help immeasurably.

Instead of just saying "the US ranks 19th in preventable deaths", showing an easy-to-read visual to help it sink in.

I'm impressed!!

1. Except I don't think he's interested in the PO. Deal breaker for me.
I'd love to be wrong about that.

4. No, you may be right. He was showing the different types of plans (on a chart!)
and then compared them, bottom line I took away is essentially he wants a not-for-profit competitor (he just said that). He also said it doesn't HAVE to be government run, but he's not against that, either.

He's just making a lot of sense, but I'm with you on the PO.

2. Except he is either lying or does not know what he is talking about.

France has a govt run system. It is just different from the British system.

Now, if he wants the French system, I am all for it, but clearly, he is not.

5. The complaint by many seems to be that the reimbursement
rate for Medicare is too low, and they are right. Medicare DOES reimburse at an avg. of 80% of the provider's costs...both hospitals & drs. The perfect solution to this, it seems to me to be, RAISE THE DAMN REIMBURSEMENT RATES FOR MEDICARE! Medicaid reimbursement rates are WORSE! They are at about 65% of every cost dollar. I realize that everyone is scared to death to mention "increast taxes" but folks, I don't think there's any other choice!

6. I'm really impressed
I had the impression that most of those senators from the normally red states like Montana and the Dakotas were pretty central leaning.

This is one time I'm really glad I'm wrong!

12. Every time I think I "get it" and post, I learn I'm woefully short on info. So thanks
to all of you who have explained it further and showed me aspects I didn't see. :hi:
