Schumer tied the PO to the University system
People have a choice of public or private education. They should have the same choice in healthcare.

Echoing the President.

Glad thats on the record. :applause:

1. Yep. I've heard Obama make the same analogy numerous times. It's a good one.

2. Cept even public university education is unaffordable for many. Itd be suicide to mandate it

Unless Blue Cross/Blue Shield started offering football policies to athletes!

5. I think that is why the debate is so heated.
There really isn't a good example to cement it in people's minds. I tried the FedEx/UPS/Post Office example with an elderly family member (ironically on Medicare) and was told that the PO is broke.

Auto insurance isn't a good example because people can go a lifetime without ever filing a claim. Not so with healthcare.

Public education at the higher learning level isn't mandated (nor should it be) and isn't affordable to many.

I wish there was a clear model that people could relate to, but I think this is going to end up being something so new that it will stand as its own model.

6. There are subsidies available for students who cannot afford public universities.

7. Yeah, but many in the middle can't cough up the dough
School was far more affordable to me because I came from the lowest quintile than it was for other families I graduated with who were middle income.

You cannot deny that not every family can reasonably afford college, private or public.

8. Ah, yes, the middle-income gap. This is true. I lived through it. Worked while I went to school.
