Alexander and McCain Tag-Teaming: Want Healthcare Legislation Online for 72 Hours Before Vote.
Complaining about the goings-on in the Finance Committee; complaining that there is no text of what Dems are offering for them to read. They are demanding that the full text of any legislation be available online for the American people to read for a full 72 hours before voting.

Ironically, McCain then proceeds to read from the Baucus bill; pulling out details and acting outraged. Alexander says Republicans have humility in healthcare reform by wanting to go step by step and not taking on the whole thing at once.

Republicans have a plan according to McCain. They are for going across state lines to find coverage. They are for allowing small businesses to pool together and negotiate premiums. They are for malpractice reform. They are for allowing insurance companies to bid on Americans with pre-existing conditions. They want to be able to import drugs from Canada. They are NOT for the government taking over the healthcare system. Don't be so hard on them, they are for a lot more than they are against!

Man, they are really a couple of whiny babies today.

1. Just like the USA PATRIOT Act, eh boys?
Boy, did that one get ram-rodded through in record time. Almost as if it had been written years before as a repressive dictatorship's wish list for how to shut down a country's freedom. Almost. Yep, lots of real good debate went into that misbegotten shame of legislation.

4. That was my first thought, listening to them.
Where was the insistence of taking time to read then? Allowing the American people to read it before voting?

2. Did they want the Patriot Act online 72 hours before it was voted on?

If so, I'll listen. If not, they can take their blatant partisan sniping back to the firing range.

*on edit--to gratuitous--beat me to it by a second or two. GMTA, eh?
