Democratic Socialists of America -- USA's biggest socialist party -- endorsed Obama in 2008
This came up in the other thread about DSA, but I just wanted to make sure more people were aware of it. DSA endorsed Obama, and has often endorsed Democrats (including Kerry in 2004).

DSA is also the official American socialist party member of the Socialist International. That means that the big socialist parties, social democratic parties, and labour parties of Europe, South America and Africa (that includes the British Labour Party, Socialist Party of France and African National Congress of South Africa) recognize the DSA as THE socialist party of the United States (they do not recognize the Trot fringe parties which are recognized by their own fringe international groupings).

Here is DSA's endorsement -- critical, but endorsing:

2. DSA endorses some Democratic candidates - so what?
Why do you "want to make sure more people aware of it"?

3. A certain anti-Democrat, anti-union clique here claim socialists should hate all Democrats
I think this shows that they do not represent anything like majority socialist opinion. They're weird, fringe Trotskyites.

6. Thank you. I think if the public understood that THIS is modern socialism,
a hell of a lot more Americans would identify as socialists, and would do so proudly.
