BREAKING: Public Option Fails In Senate Committee
Edited on Tue Sep-29-09 04:14 PM by stopbush

WASHINGTON - In a long-anticipated showdown, liberal Democrats twice failed on Tuesday to inject a government-run insurance option into sweeping health care legislation taking shape in the Senate, despite bipartisan agreement that private insurers must change their ways.

The two votes marked a victory for Montana Democrat Max Baucus, the Senate Finance Committee chairman, who is hoping to push his middle-of-the-road measure through the panel by week's end. It also kept alive the possibility that at least one Republican may yet swing behind the overhaul, a key goal of both Baucus and the White House.

1. How many have been voted on, and how many are left?
I swear, no one knows how to keep score anymore.

2. Let's just get the damn bill out of Baucus's fucked up committee
Fix it on the floor of the Senate or in conference committee. Nothing will move along until with get Baucus's fucked up committee away from this bill.

6. No. Don't get this bill out of committee.
Kill it in committee. It's now irreparable.

8. That's just wrong. The Baucus committee has to pass a bill, but
once it goes to the full Senate, Baucus is out of power. Hope that happens this week!!!!!

The action is going to be in the joint committee after both houses pass a bill.

4. "NO PUBLIC OPTION" IS NOT "MIDDLE OF THE ROAD"
Edited on Tue Sep-29-09 04:21 PM by DireStrike
Full strength public option is the compromise from single-payer healthcare.

Anything less is a failure by the democrats, and a right-wing bill.

5. Time to dump these DINOS
Baucus, Conrad, Lincoln have to go.

It's funny how Baucus claims they don't have the votes but I believe they would have less without the public option.

7. It's nice to know that, in spite of the demise of the GOP, we still have a two-party system
Blue Dogs vs. Progressives.

The Blue Dogs won today.
