In Non-Polanski News: Rather's CBS lawsuit dismissed.

Dan Rather's long and increasingly lonely $70 million lawsuit against CBS may have hit a final wall Tuesday when it was dismissed by a New York court.

Rather sued his old network in 2007, contending that CBS had breached his contract by eventually dropping him as anchor of the CBS Evening News after he presided over a 2004 60 Minutes II report alleging that George W. Bush had received preferential treatment while serving with the Texas Air National Guard during the Vietnam War era.

8. Damn. That's more fuel for the fire for the righties, even more than if he'd simply lost.
Can he appeal? Or is being dismissed once the end of it?

14. Oh, of course not. The blatant support for the right
and the blatant double standard over how people on the left vs right are treated never has any basis in anything coming from the top. :eyes:

This whole situation has been a partisan shame from the very beginning. ABC really deserved to get their nose rubbed in it. It is a shame that the judge is backing ABC.

Who wants to bet that the judge is a republican?

16. Wasn't more than a week ago, I believe, where a Repug was found guilty
and freepturgidia was all in arms calling a Bush41-appointee from a deeply RED area and former Repug politician (elected to office) a "liberal activist judge" ...

13. That really upsets me but also the jab at those discussing the polanski case..
for so many, far too many it hits home and they NEED to discuss it...I am not aiming this at you but at those who think the whole case should now be ignored..the sad thing is...the act itself continues and shouldn't be ignored simply because when we ignore an issue that some feel is now boring...the issue is never addressed enough for such never to happen again..

Just like when that cop arrested the professor in MA...I was furious how many kept telling people to stop talking about it..and now? Just as I knew it would...police brutality not only continues but has seemingly gotten worse..

many people can multi task when it involves many issues and there are enough people in this country that some can focus on one problem so others can take the time to focus on another..

The scary part is...if we quit talking about something that has not stopped..it will only continue and get worse...and that I find sad....what is wrong with some people? I just don't get it..
