BILLINGS - American Police Force officials showed up in Mercedes SUV's that had "Hardin Police" stenciled on the vehicles. The twist, the city of Hardin doesn't have a police department.
Two Rivers Authority officials say having APF patrol the streets was never part of their agenda. "I have no idea. I really don't because that's not been a part of any of the discussions we've had with any of them," said Two Rivers Authority's Al Peterson.

As it stands now the Big Horn County Sheriff's Department is contracted to patrol the city and APF has no jurisdiction. If that was changed Peterson says it would have to go through the city council.

5. its a small town about 40 minutes from Billings with an empty 27 million dollar prison
these snake oil salesman from LA come to town and promise jobs, homeless shelter, free health care to all, and a full prison by Feb.

The city counsel jumped at the chance before looking into the company.

6. LOL! Talking about stupid enough....
Billings is not Hardin and Billings was not the only area that voted for Max

And: what a nice, caring, liberal thing to say. NOT. "fuck Billings" indeed! Nice regional broadbrush bigotry you got there!

AND you seem to have missed that the people in Hardin did not allow the 'fake police' crap to go down. Either you didn't read or you didn't comprehend. Lucky for your neighbors most here won't think they are stupid, just because one person behaved like an idiot.

2. ???
I don't get the responses, the logic is so faulty...it sounds like the city was working out a contract with a private security firm (more than likely a conservative group at that)and there was some confusion as to authority and boundaries?

7. and that is why the locals made the 'company' take the decals off the cars pronto
The state legislature is talking about looking into the whole mess. The people of Hardin are desperate to get the white elephant prison running and bringing in money. They have bonds to repay and in dire straits for jobs. Desperate people sometimes make stupid mistakes, but they drew the line at these guys coming in flashing P.D. stickers on pricey cars.

Con men running a scam, trying to keep the locals bedazzled with bullshit most likely. Offering a 60K job to the Billings reporter who was supposed to be looking into the goins on in Hardin was the tip off. ;) Bedazzle with bullshit....

The end game is still a mystery, as the con men couldn't get anything from Hardin. Another DUer suggested Hardin was the means to look legit to potential 'investors'. Makes sense.

Desperate people, especially those from a place where most are trusting/trustworthy, can make some foolish mistakes. Thinking these bozos were now the local police was a mistake they did not make.
