medical bills stacking up on the TV tuned to Glenn Beck - yet, cheering for the defeat of PO |
|
That's the image I get of my in-laws in Georgia.
They are avid beck fans and o'reilly watchers and everything anti-reform, anti-Obama, birther, etc.
Yet, after two years of hospital visits for a teen with chronic sinus infections, a mom with two kidney operations, and my brother with two shoulder injuries (he's a self-employed truck driver with one truck) and no insurance - they owe Piedmont Hospital over $15,000. My mom helps pay their mortgage so they can keep their house. Their credit is gone because of the unpaid bills.
BUT - My sister in-law emailed me with a long row of smiley faces with a link to the fox news site about the big WIN for GOP on the public option.
I just don't get it.
(that's why I live 2000 miles away in Montana)

Barely literate; watch Fox News day in and day out and have no clue they're being manipulated into supporting politicians and corporations who are kicking them over and over and over.
I have relatives like this too and it's really sad. :(

2. Make sure you park your ass in front of Baucus' office |
|
and refuse to leave until all your medical bills are paid for, OR you extract a promise from Baucus to support a robust PO.
Nothing else matters.

3. They would willingly starve themselves to death, if told to do so by the voices on TV. |
|
People that have no intellectual curiosity or lack education like being told what to do by authority figurs. It abdicates them of any responsiblity to think or reason for themselves.
It's easier. It's laziness.
And it's what the Republic party depends on for their 'base'. It's how they get them to vote against their own self-interest, and make sure the wealthy stay that way.

6. Keith Olbermann absolutely NAILED this mentality in a special comment |
|
a couple of weeks ago:
"...the greatest threat to this nation is not terrorism, nor the economy, nor H1N1, nor even bad health care. It is rank, willful stupidity."

7. Today I got a flu shot at the Kroger store |
|
my insurance doesn't pay for flu shots so it costs me $25.00. The guy in front of me had Medicare and got his for nothing, I would bet my next unemployment check that jackass is against a public option.

8. I'm on Medicare and I'm FOR public option |
|
Why? I'm not thinking for myself, but for my wife and my son.
They are paying through the nose for insurance.

9. My neighbors are the damned same, except they don't watch, just get fed it at church and his work. |
|
They have had to file bankruptcy twice due to med bills, are underwater on their house due to his medication costs after the bankruptcies, she works for the *gasp* public (socialized)school district; and yet they think it was/is such a picnic EVERYONE should have to do it.
