1. I have to admit I am curious as to if she knew she had this
genetic condition before she had kids. This should have been part of the expected expenses when she was making a decision to have kids or not.

Personally it would break my heart to bring a child into this world knowing that they would have to go through this.

3. She lost the sight in her right eye at 16. She didn't know why until after she had kids.

5. How sad.
I wonder if the doctors failed to diagnose her properly earlier.

2. Her husband is a federal employee, and they are ruined by the healthcare costs.
That reminds me of seeing US military personnel on food stamps. Yes, I realize that you don't pay people based on how many children they have, and it's quite possible for a military person to be eligible for food stamps while another one making the same pay is doing fine. But the visual of a US soldier with a food stamp card just isn't something one expects to see. We also don't expect to see federal employees being evicted due to a medical bills.

4. Mom Goes Blind and Loses Home So Insurance Company Can Keep Making a Profit
They misspelled a few words in the headline.

Not to take anything away--in fact, just the opposite--from the love that mother has for her daughters. That story is both touching and deeply saddening.

6. What is sad is 80% coverage.
That isn't enough nowadays.

8. So she goes blind and then receives public assistance
Wouldn't it be better and more cost-effective (in so many, many ways) to work to keep her from going blind in the first place?

Geeeeeeez.
