Newsmax Columnist: Military Coup May Be Needed 'To Resolve The Obama Problem' - ARTICLE REMOVED
Edited on Wed Sep-30-09 10:05 AM by meegbear
In a column published yesterday, Newsmax's John L. Perry wrote that there is a "gaining" possibility that the military will stage a coup to "resolve the 'Obama problem.'"

Newsmax has apparently removed the column from its site. Links are now redirected to the homepage, and Perry's author page has no mention of his latest work.

The coup -- which would be "civilized" and "bloodless," according to Perry -- would consist of a "patriotic general" sitting down with the President and working out a new system in which "skilled, military-trained, nation-builders" would "do the serious business of governing and defending the nation" while Obama would still be allowed to make speeches.

Obama, he said, is inviting such a "family intervention."

This is a matter for law enforcement, not "the Dems".

21. He posted his 'coup' article on a major Conservative
blog. If an unpaid Democratic blogger had been given permission to do that on DU eg, the whole blog would have been vilified on the MSM, on the internet and probably shut down.

Dems should be on Television with that article in their hands, condemning the Republican Party and their followers for this kind of incitement. You know that if this were reversed, every Republican in Congress would already have done that and called for Democrats to condemn it also.

David Horowitz, airc, is involved in that blog or was when it started. This is mainstream to Conservatives. The Dems can do the condemning to help law enforcement along, in case they choose to ignore it as often seems to happen when it's Republicans.

2. Newsmax
for readers who find the National Enquirer and Weekly World News to be a bit too highbrow and intellectual.

And then let them know about it, telling them to enjoy their visits from those agencies.

8. "family intervention" Where have you heard that expression recently?
Does Perry have connections to the group that runs the house that conducted an intervetion on Ensign?

How many entities are there that use the word family? The CIA?

11. How totalitarian and Constitution shredding of Newsmax. They support military dictatorship.
That is treasonous speech. How lucky for them we still have a constitution and a government that continue to protect people like this. Should we remind Mr. Perry that he undermines his own security, endangers his own rights when he writes such drivel? And why does he hate America?

17. Recced to keep this in the DU eye. This is the scary stuff that most DU'ers don't think
about: our ultra-right, fundamentalist christian generals are definitely capable of trying something like this.

19. lol...cowards
Newsmax got the call from their lawyers or the secret service (or both) and were finally told the score..."Whaddayah mean we can't advocate for a military overthrow of a democratically elected government?? We said BLOODLESS! And we'd still keep the constitution! That should have shielded us!"

I bet anyone dollars to yen that this 'Perry' jackoff's next column will be about censorship and the erosion of the First Amendment...Bank on it...

22. Also - an insult to our military
The assumption that our military would be willing to play along with right-wing junta fantasies is an insult to the men and women who have taken an oath to defend our Constitution.
