Suspicious fax sent to FBI
Police still haven’t ruled census worker’s death as homicide

The Times-Tribune received a suspicious fax Friday night, which staff immediately turned over to the FBI. The fax came with the “RE” headline of “I Did It” and referenced the death investigation of Bill Sparkman, a census worker whose body was found hanged in Clay County on Sept. 12.

“I must state the truth,” the fax read, “Bill Sparkman personally didn’t have any enemies, but the Federal government certainly does. So it’s unfortunate that he was representing them when he was out in Clay County. The only good thing to come of this is that the Fed’s (sic) have stopped the census being taken, for now at least.”

The FBI agent handling the Sparkman case said the fax appears to have been sent from an e-mail account. It was signed “Me, Too” but also contained a name that the Times-Tribune has been unable to verify. It was also unclear from where the fax had been sent.

“Having reviewed the contents, we’re not taking it as a serious admission,” the agent said. “...There’s no way to immediately validate the source, and there’s nothing necessarily in it that you couldn’t get from the news.”

4. Wow.
One press report indicated that Sparkman’s feet were touching the ground when police found his body. “If his feet were touching and he was hanging from a limb, you’d want to know if it was a broken limb or if the rope slipped,” the investigator continued, saying, “if it appeared his feet were touching when he was tied, it would make you start to think.”

The investigator suggested reporters research the death of David Carradine, an actor whose body was found bound in a closet following death by apparent autoerotic asphyxiation.

Whoever said that stuff should be investigated... cause that positively reeks of an effort to distract/cover something up.

20. Once it's declared a murder, the FBI steps in and hunts for the murderer....
Someone doesn't want that to happen.

37. so, the FBI only enters the picture once it's given to be a murder?
b/c the story actually broke nationally as "FBI investigating hanging death..."

so, it'd seem that someone believes it's a homicide, and isn't announcing that officially.

??

38. No, the FBI is there because it's a suspicious death of a federal employee.
Poster's only making up the FBI getting involved if it's a murder.

FBI has not ruled out suicide or accidental death.

39. I believe the FBI's level of involvement depends on local authorities...
declaring the crime a homicide.

And I'm pretty sure that a "Hate Crime" investigation will depend on that too...

stopped anything.

14. That's the decennial census however, Census activities are ongoing
Mr. Sparkman may have been a field worker for the normal Census activities and he would work part-time year round on that.

10. Drug Operators do not want the Feds around. In a county that has
40% of its people unempoyed, people have to survive.
I am not justifying Drug Trade, just observing reality.
It is my understanding the people there are "clannish"
stick together and mistrust outsiders. To their minds
he could have been "spying" for DEA.

Large numbers in this county live on SS Welfare and
other Government support.

Could it be the fax is just a way of cover-up. It seems
more acceptable I guess to say he was killed because of
hatred of Government.

Have you been keeping up with this story? He gagged, bound both hands and feet then hanged himself?

really?

19. duct tape is (obviously) adhesive - so one could tie their own hands behind the back
the feet touching the ground makes the hanging part possible.

I'm not saying it is suicide, just that it isn't as crazy as people think. If he had a life insurance policy with a no-suicide clause, then he would be motivated to fake it as a murder.

And the murder is less and less likely to be solved.

32. If you would engage your brain...
...you would realize that in unsolved murder cases, police usually hold a few inconsequential details back from the news, or includes a small deliberate error in the reporting, so as to filter out false confessions. A real confession would contain some detail not in the news report that could be verified, but every unsolved murder catches the attention of a few kooks who claim to have done it, either as pranksters or because they have mental problems.

WHY is the entire media cycle controlled by FOX nation?

Beck, O'reilly or Hannity has a hissy fit about something and the rest of the M$M obsesses about it the VERY NEXT DAY?!?
