US secretly tried to make deal with Goldman Sachs in wake of financial crisis

Warren Buffett balked at conflict of interest

BREAKING 10:08 AM ET:Vanity Fair will report in the next issue of the magazine that US Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson — a former head of the investment bank Goldman Sachs — tried to orchestrate secretive deals in the midst of the financial crisis but got blowback from prominent investor Warren Buffett. The following press release was obtained by Raw Story; the magazine appears today on newsstands in New York and Los Angeles.

NEW YORK, N.Y.—The government secretly tried to orchestrate a deal involving Goldman Sachs in the week following Lehman Brothers’ collapse and considered using the Federal Reserve to help support such a transaction, Andrew Ross Sorkin reports in the new issue of Vanity Fair.

5. I personally know some people I always thought of as "hard-core" Democrats who are
friends with Hank and think he's a swell guy.

Yes, my friends are in the upper five percent of the income scale.

That's why we can't make any headway on getting regulation for these thieves. They're all linked by money and friendship, so party politics or right and wrong make no difference to them.

8. Right out of Obama's mouth, not even a month after
Winning the election --

"60 Minutes" Obama: "Hank is working hard."

That is when I realized that the "Same as the old boss" line from The Who song was applicable to this presidency.

And it has only gotten worse, as the President considers Geithner his good friend.

6. Paulson, he said, would lose credibility; he would be accused of lining the pockets of his friends
at Goldman; the “Government Sachs” conspiracy theories would flourish." This sentence is from the article.

Line the pockets? They mangaged to do that anyway. Right? No accountability. Crying wolf? Record bonuses?

7. I think every CEO CFO and all the other O's should be mandated to pay for
health care for a minimum of 100 uninsured citizens. On a scale of income.
