Sen. Blanche Lincoln (D-AR) facing primary challenge - where does Johnson stand on public option?
He's Bob Johnson, Arkansas state senator (District 18) and President Pro Tempore. I know nothing on his stance on health insurance reform and would love to know where he stands on the public option:

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

there are so many GOP challengers.

Johnson confirmed the rumor shortly thereafter, and he told reporter John Lyon that he’s a “Harry Truman Democrat” and made some statements that indicate he’d be running against the reigning Democratic majority in Washington. “Mr. Johnson must have decided the Republican primary is too crowded,” Lincoln’s campaign manager, Steve Patterson, wryly notes.

Just read this:

The budget deficit is exploding, unemployment is rising, violence in Iraq and Afghanistan is climbing, school test scores continue to lag, and Bob Johnson says he may run for the United States Senate. Will the bad news never cease?

Hardly any Democrat follows the party’s leadership less often than Blanche Lincoln, unless it is Mark Pryor. A real alternative would be someone who votes with the Republican leadership all the time. There will be plenty of them running. We suspect that most people, regardless of their political allegiance, would take a real Republican over a faux Republican. Something there is to be said for the straightforward honesty of identifying yourself with the ideas and the party with which you have concert.
If running against Lincoln from the right in the Democratic primary does not seem awkward and unproductive, Bob Johnson is burdened by his record in the state Senate and House of Representatives. People may remember him for leading the battle in the legislature four years ago to allow Deltic Timber to clear the hillsides around Lake Maumelle for luxury estates, which would risk polluting the pristine waters that provide drinking water for most of us in central Arkansas....

3. Is there a real Democrat who can also run?
That person could take a lesson from Russ Feingold. While the other two better-known and better-financed Democrats were slinging mud at each other, he put on a fairly inexpensive campaign that featured engaging, even funny, TV ads showing him as a real and honest lawmaker you'd want to vote for. He won the primary and is now running for his fourth term in the Senate (thank goodness!).
