Every night on both Rachel Maddow and Countdown |
|
during their shows they air a commercial against Health Care reform. It is absurd in its dishonesty and yet neither Keith nor Rachel have ever said a word about it to my knowledge. Do you think they believe it is funny that they are taking their money and yet know their audience won't be influenced in the slightest or do they just ignore it completely. I suspect the right wing thinks it is totally hilarious. I like that they both say nothing and just let it stand on its own. It proves a point that there really is something called fair and balanced.. I am glad they don't have the ad pulled... It really is a ridiculous ad... Complete scare tactics with nothing to back up a thing on it.. But it does sort of piss me off every time I see it..

3. Many ads you see on cable are local. Tough to tell |
|
You can advertise with local cable systems for advertising in a Sports block or News&Politics block
Other ads are part of the network.
Hard to always know what's what.
And, in general, folks don't comment on ads either way.
And once you comment on one are you endorsing all the others?

4. Rachel and Keith likely don't know that these ads are being aired |
|
Blocks of advertising space are reserved for the local cable companies, which they sell to whomever.
Maybe if you brought this to Rachel and Keith's attention, they'd do something about it. I'm pretty sure they have the clout.

Has an ad next to it saying Stop the Liberal Campus Monopoly. Be a campus reformer.
This also seems out of place. But maybe it's not what I think it is?
I think you should write to their shows though and see if it can be taken out of rotation.

8. I switch channels whenever commercials come on. |
|
Except for the few commercials I actually like to watch. I have noticed that MSNBC in particular has grotesquely long commercial breaks, with about 3 minutes tops of programming between 25 and 37 minutes after the hour in the evening. Who needs it?
I might add that if I were an advertiser paying big bucks to get my message on MSNBC, I would be unhappy with my ad being, say, the 14th of 25 consecutive commercials in a 9-minute break! Do they not realize we have remote controls and lots of other channels?
While I'm adding things, I watch a lot of shows on hulu.com while I'm making dinner, and strangely enough I find that their commercial breaks are too short! By the time I glance at the screen it's over! :eyes: I guess I'm just hard to please.
