So I was watching CNBC earlier today at work.... Expect TONS of new jobs come 4th quarter!
(the joys of working in the Uverse department at AT&T. no really I don't sit around and watch TV but it was on while we were working on the equipment)

Some moron was on giving an interview in which he stated even though unemployment is going to hit 9.9% on Friday (based on economist projections) and even though we just lost another 200K+ jobs all was well because "a lot of employers were going to start hiring at the end of the year".

The interviewer asked him "Like who?" and he said "Well for example I know Macy's and other retailers are planning on hiring thousands!".

How fu**ing stupid do these people take us? You try to tell us the job market is going to get better because retailers (who offer shit part time jobs with horrible pay and benefits) are hiring seasonal workers who will be let go after 3 months of employment?

WE NEED REAL JOBS YOU CLUELESS FOOLS!!!!!!

5. That's the word on the street
It's just damn laughable. I am amazed these people can keep a straight face.

These out of touch fools are telling us we are going to get "jobs" by the end of this year (in the form of part time seasonal retail jobs) and they expect these same employees and help drive a "consumer driven recovery".

The shit is going to hit the fan this Christmas when the sales are absolutely horrible and wall street realizes there will be no consumer driven recovery. Mark my words.

7. Propaganda put out by Macy's to lure people in to buy their stuff?
As mentioned above, Macy's is purported to be going the way of Montgomery Ward.

Edited on Wed Sep-30-09 06:51 PM by TwixVoy
simply mentioned them as one of the retailers hiring. He seriously expected people to believe seasonal retail hiring was going to be a sign the job market was getting better.

19. No, I meant that if MACY'S is saying they are hiring . . .
Edited on Wed Sep-30-09 10:41 PM by Still Blue in PDX
it may be wishful thinking on Macy's part. Or perhaps MACY'S is encouraging us to believe all is right with the world. Sort of like being told to go shopping on 9/12. The old bread and circuses routine. In my neighborhood the people who used to shop at Macy's are now going to Goodwill, garage sales, or Craigslist for their purchases.

Apologies to anyone to whom this wasn't clear! Maybe I went overboard in my effort to be concise and left out a noun or verb or something. :silly:

on edit: I do get what you're saying.
