My "Plan for Full Employment"
The government makes us all bloggers and we get paid by the word.

We get the same benefits package as any federal employee. In fact, we will officially be considered government employees.

There, no more unemployment, plus we all have healthcare now.

It could be implemented tomorrow.

I'll be sending you a motivational poster. Be on the lookout for it.

3. Please don't think I am totally in jest
There are NO jobs in many parts of the country. The country seems willing to pour billions down corporate ratholes with little or no direct benefit to the taxpayers so . . .

Why NOT be the employer of last resort? Since blogging is time stamped, it's easy to make sure that people are really in place blogging away. If someone gets a "real" job, they can leave with no problem and no notice. It's a "green solution" since there's no commuting.

Maybe we can become a Civilian Computer Corps - modeled on the old Civilian Conservation Corps, which WAS an actual government program to employ the unemployed during the Depression. Why not?

4. Besides the fact that it's simply not practical...
...would you want the restrictions that come with writing as a government employee? You would no longer be functioning as a free citizen, but as an agent and representative of the government. That could severely curtail your "on duty" freedom of speech.

5. If I were paid I could write anything within official guidelines.
I would make an excellent bureaucrat and shill!
